Rough Starting
Ok I have a 2000 Blazer 2WD and I went to Wisconsin and Indiana this weekend on the highway with no problems. Now my car is hesitating to start and now the check engine light wont go off when Im driving. Any ideas why? By the way it still has the original spark plugs and wires and cap and rotor. It has 95,000 miles on the engine now. Should I change the plugs and wires and cap n rotor or just go get the check engine light checked out?

I would definitely change the plugs/wires/ect since ive had all of those contribute to rugh starting in thr past in my vihicals.and getting the codes read would probobly sheed some light on ur problem if its fuel/ sensor ect related

Yeah I took it to Autozone they put it on the scanner I is the mass air sensor. So I bought that and plugs and wires and cap and rotor and fuel filter. Its about time for a tuneup Might as well do everything at once to be safe.

I betcha that mass air sensor was about 200+ bucks too... Did you try cleaning the old one with a 5 dollar can of cleaner first??? Just because the code says its a fault in the mass air circut doesnt mean that the sensor is bad... It could be dirty, have broken or shorted wires, or be leaking.
The sensor has a very thin fragile wire inside it, if that wire gets coated with grime and gum it will start giving false readings, and when the readings go out of spec they will trigger the light. I bet all you have to do is clean the sensor. They sell CRC sensorkleen and it works great.

I agree with you about cleaning it but i think you have to be really carefull when u do it since it is a really delicate componant and if someone has little experiance it could go wrong ie; my buddy bang it lightly and his never worked again.
