Scan tool
I still use Autoenginuity when I need heavy diagnostic and/or bidirectional controls beyond what I have on my phone with a bluetooth tool. If you always have a laptop handy, AE is a very powerful software. For general code running and other small tasks, I keep a bluetooth tool in my truck and my work truck as you can't beat them for their low investment and capabilities as long as you understand that there are limitations to what they can do.
When I had my Yukon I was looking into getting a tuning software suite and selling my AE tool. Depending on what my soon to be new driver in the house picks up for a first car, I might be back in that boat again in another few months...

IMHO the I-link 400 is the best overall value if you need bidirectional functions for things like ABS brake bleeding and Crank Sensor Relearn - or simply want a handheld dedicated scanner. For simpler cases, a cell phone/bluetooth OBD2 adapter with Car Diagnostic Pro (newer version of Car Gauge Pro) or Dash Command is my choice. Note that Car Diagnostic Pro cannot access enhanced GM PIDs on 1996/97 Blazers and that Dash Command requires purchase of the PIDs for $10 extra. Blue Driver is reported to work OK but it's just much more expensive.

I use BlueDriver. It connects to a mobile device via bluetooth (Android recommended) and it does a lot of stuff. It will scan other modules too and pull codes form there unlike most other cheat scan tools. I use it to diagnose ABS codes.
It's good for just pulling codes, it doesn't give you ability to diagnose and test separate components.

I use vxdiag nano interface directly from vxdiag official.
software is a pain to set up. spent a day to get it installed.
It works fine. Can get in and do diagnostics on ANY module from the engine, trans, abs, body control, lighting, etc.
Didn't try to reflash modules, you need a J2534 box and a laptop, plus a subscription to GM’s service info (which they gladly charge for).
