Should i use sealant on the gaskets and bolts when replacing the water pump 2000 Blaz
The last time i replaced a water pump myself was on a 1970 Camaro and i only used the thin paper gaskets that came with the pump on this car
I never had any leaks afterwards either
But i watched a youtube video where they replaced the water pump on a 2000 Blazer and they used high temperature sealant both on the gaskets and the bolts
The reason they used high temperature thread sealer on the threads on the bolts was beause the bolts went into the water channel
I have Permatex Supra Blue silicone sealant and Locktite MR 5922 silicone sealant
I know that the Lockitite MR 5922 is ment to be used together with gaskets
The Permatex Supra Blue i do not know
Would you here put seaant on the gaskets?
Can i use these sealants on the threads on the bolts for the water pump or do i need special sealant made for use on the bolt threads?
The reason i ask about this is beause i really do not want to replace the water pump, flush the coolong system and add new antifreeze and thinking i am finished with the job and then see a leak from the new water pump
Doing this job one time is enough
