Simple A/C Question!!
Guys
I have a 95 Blazer that has tested my patience about as much as any thing I have ever owned (EGR, Spark Plugs, and of course the FPR!!) Anyhoo...
In Canada we can buy R-12a (NOT R-12!!), and use it in a 134a system.
The kit states to remove all 134a from the system before adding the R-12a....well thats gonna cost $$$$$...
Has anyone just added the 12a to a 134a system? Someone must, have because these kits sell like crazy everywhere under the brand Red Tek and DuraCool.
Anyone stepped up and just added the R-12a?
I hear that they will work together, but do not want them mixed due to enviromental (recycle) reasons
Thanks

The Red-tek R-12A, you can add it to your R-134a system without adding/removing anything.
*** guess I should read the post first.
Ive used Red-tek in several vehicles, works great!!! I used to sell it to all the garages seeing as now R-134a up here is sooo frigging expensive.

Why not just add 134a? It's about $8 bucks a can at any wal-mart down here.

atleast you guys can buy it, in WI you need a licence to handle the stuff

That sucks... Yea, anyone can buy 134a but you gotta have a licence to buy R12 here in Texas... but if you zip over into Mexico you can get it there licence free and cheap too. Of course you gotta install it before you cross back over to avoid importing it...lol

I would have used 134a if I could buy it, but that is not going to happen where i live in Canada.
Any more feedback?

I added 2 cans of Duracool to my existing a/c w/o removing the old 134a. Works great...so far...
