Sounds like rocks hitting my windshield
Yesterday I'm driving around sundown and I kept getting startled by something that sounds like rocks hitting my windshield or the roof or hood. Any thoughts? I have just gotten the 02 Blazer back from the shop for front end repair, that is probably related but I don't know how. Thanks!

Sounds like your hood hinges maybe worn.I had a problem awhile back with a popping/clunking sound while driving.Open your hood grab the hood near the hinges, try moving it back in forth side to side.Do you have any play or popping with the hinges? If so you need to buy some conical washers from G.M. part #12383460

I live on a gravel road and the first drive of each morning, I would hear these loud pops from the front end. It turned out to be gravel stuck in the tire grooves would be thrown out and would slam into the front wheel liner under the fenders. I soon figured out it was the centrifigal force slinging the rocks out at a certain speed-- say 30 to 40 mph. I like living in the country.

The hood does seem a little wobbly and the road was asphalt and stone. Hmmmm.
I raised the front hood bumpers (easy!), maybe that will do something good. I'll save the washers idea for last :-/
