Spare tire mounting
Hello all..
so ive lost my spare a few months ago, just got a new old one today.
the hanger cable snapped and i really dont feel like spending 150 bucks on a new mount. I currently have it ratchet strapped underneath my truck, but i dont really trust it. just seeing if anyone had any better ideas what to do with it.
i have a 98 4 door.
Thankksss!

You could try getting a piece of steel from local harware store...bolt it to the frame and run a threaded rod thru that with a couple of nuts and the mount tire on the rod with another small piece of steel and nut to hold tire in place....wont be as elegant as the cable.
Or....go to junk yard and get another one and swap it out.

Yeah,I have encounterd the same issue! Don't waste your time or money in replacing the factory set-up! Too much $ for something that does not work! What I did was weld a piece of good thick piece of plate steel to that location(after removing the factory set up,and the carpet above it!) and welded in 3 pieces of all-thread about 12" long-then bolted the spare in place. The factory sheet metal alone is not strong enough to support this weight of a 50+ lb spare! Has worked well for 2 years! Don't put it on the roof!
