My husband has changed the starter 6 times on our 97 blazer in the past two weeks. A few times the starter bolts have broken when trying to start it. This keeps happening every other day. Could anyone help with this? Also it is out of time, could that be causing the starter to mess up?

 

It's very possible that being out of time could cause starter damage. If trouble code P1345 is in memory, that will tell if it's out of time.

 

Could anyone tell me exactly how to set the timing on a 97 blazer. My husband has tried a couple times but hasn't got it right and so the it won't start? We really need HELP!

 

Is P1345 set in memory and the check engine light on? If so, the distributor is not aligned properly with the camshaft and will need to be repositioned. If P1345 is not set, ignition timing is not adjustable.

 

Thanks for the help. We paid a mechanic $40 to set the timing and now it starts right up.

 

Starter engages but wont turn over like the battery is dead. Checked the battery its fully charged. Tried using jumper cables still does the same thing engages but wont turn over. Any idea what could cause this issue. 2004 Chevrolet s10 blazer 4.3 v6

 

What's the battery voltage at the terminals when you are trying to crank?

I haven't been able to test voltage drop at the battery I do everything by myself and I have bad vision to be able to see the voltage meter sitting on the battery

 

Can you read voltage at the cigarette lighter plug?
