Default starting rough

this has been an ongoing thing since ive owned the truck 5 years. i am on my third starter, i assume the first one was oem. the second was a dud so i dont even count that, and the current one was a reman prostart from pepgirls. the battery is a year old, alt is 2. and no corrosion on my terminals.

any who, when i go to start it, especially after sitting for a day. it doesnt not start, but it wasnt as smooth as it used to be when i first put it in. idk how to explain it besides sometimes when i turn the key it starts either a little rough or perfectly.

what could be causing it? im dumbfounded, note it always starts and no noticeable volt drop when driving

Is what you are trying to say starter sounds different off and on [draging sometimes] - if so check starter mounting bolts for looseness - bushings could be worn - check wireing at starter corrosion or looseness - selonoid could be getting weak - brush could be hanging up slightly in starter - just a few things to start you off with....

yea my last starter cracked in half, but yeah thats the word i was looking for "dragging" especially when i do the remote start. might just drop it if the bolts are tight and check what you recommended, what size bolts are they?

if mem serves me right bolt heads are either 14mm or 9/16 - older starters used a 3/8 dia bolt - reman starter it could be anything - if you change out the starter again and if you have a Oriellys there most of their starters, alts and such have a life time warrenty on them - yep you have to save the reciept in most cases but it's a one time buy if you do

with the starter you have i can't say as I don't have a pep here - with Oriellys if it's bad you take it in and trade for a new one straight across
