Everything worked fine until I ran down the battery and tried to hurry up the jump by using an extra battery and a 6 amp recharger together. Or maybe it was when I used just the extra battery, which burned out the alligator clip while cranking and shut down power to the whole car, so much so I could not remove the key. Anyway, I reconnected the extra battery and the underhood light came back on and I could pull the key. Put the charger on and after 30 minutes the car started.
It started but couldn't keep going when I let off the gas to let it idle. Fired it up again and same thing. Battery is pretty new, just yesterday I pulled out the side terminals and replaced them with some terminal extenders. Volts now read 12.49 I put the charger on to build it up but more volts won't explain why I can't keep an idle, I don't think
And this new behavior is timed right after disastrous jump?
I hate side post same as you...
^ and I actually have those same terminal extenders but will need someone to install them . Regular ones are on for now and I had to jump a car last week. I feel I got lucky because they sure don't make it easy..
Yeah I put the extenders on and then listened to the radio with the key in ACC and forgot to take it out, which ran down the battery overnight. Maybe I shouldn't have put Vaseline on the posts.
Still, weird how now there is enough juice to start the car but not enough to keep it running.

After charging, battery was 12.66 v, Car started up, idles like regular, running batt was high, maybe14 v, I should have written it down. IDK what was the issue with idling but for now, crisis appears to be over.
