Default Tailgate fuse blows

Wondering if anyone has had the same problem before I start tearing the wiring apart.

I keep blowning the fuse for the rear tailgate, mirrors and overhead dome light. I can replace the fuse and it lasts the most four days and pops.

Any takers.

Electrical problems like this are always quite difficult to track down. Is there anything that seems to trigger the fuse to blow? Like leaving your doors open for an extended period of time or moving your mirrors, etc. Without an idea of what is causing it, it won't be fun, nor will it be quick to trace down the fault.

could you have a wrong amperage fuse in there? Maybe it blew for some reason and a previous driver put the next availible (lower amp) fuse in the slot?

Well I have been on it for a week now and can find a short. I ran out of 20 amp fuses and had to use a 30 amp. A strange thing happened, the fuse never blew but it got nice and hot. So far I have disconnected everything but no go.

Besides tearing into the whole wiring harness, any ideas?

If there was a short wouldn't the fuse just blow?
