did you notice it your balancer had two marks on it... after i realized it I lined them both up, reset the distributor, turn the key fired up and ran fine.

The DIY link helped greatly. Only problem was that the antiquated way I used actualy worked. When I lined up the two marks and pulled the cap off, everything was lined up.
So now what. The engine was trying to fire before but wouldn't start. I pulled out a plug and it was dry so I primed the throttle body with fuel and GUESS WHAT ?
So now I need to figure out why now it's not getting enough fuel. Fuel presure is fine and the engine was running before I took the manifold off. I must have done something to the injectors, however I never took them off, just changed the gasket. ??????
Update....
Decided to prime the throttle body with fuel again and dumped quite abit of fuel in and it started and ran fine for about 30 seconds or until all the excess fuel burnt off then it continued to run but with a heavy miss. So it appears I have an injector problem now.
Any tip on that process ?

Test the fuel pressure just to be sure. >55psi is required for proper operation of the injectors. Beyond that, you really should create your own thread rather. The OP hasn't reported back that their problem is cured.

I think that you may have been thrown off by the 2 marks or line on the balancer. I have a 1999 blazer and i noticed that it has two lines or marks on the balancer, I believe that the second line was the TDC mark. Piston #one and/or #4 must be all the way up.
I check by using a long (never short as it will fall inside) clothes hanger placed into the plug hole. I bend the tip into a drop shape to avoid scratching the bore. I watch as the piston goes up, the hanger comes further out. When hanger starts to go back down is because It passed TDC.
