Default Trans question

Have a 97 Blazer with 4x4

Trans seems to be stuck in 2nd gear
It will cut power to itself at 2K RPMs

Threw a Solenoid B stuck code

I replaced A and B solenoids with no change

I did notice that when I popped the drivers side solenoid out that there was spring pressure on the valve but there was none on the passenger side one.

Is this normal or is it trouble in the valve body?

my 97 did the same thing. threw the same codes. rebuilt tranny with no improvement. after noticing several little "quirks" and after further aggravation and lots of research it ended up being the ignition switch. so if you have other little things going on it may be worth a look. this is a known problem for the 97's

If you changed the solenoid & still had the same issues & the same code, I'd check the wiring to it.

Ok...finally running again!

Took it to a guy that was suggested by someone I trust

Here's what was found/done
ALL solenoids and switches in trans were replaced. He said when we went to remove the accumulator switch it fell apart in his hand. Valve body was "rebuilt"

Turned out that the power issue was a clogged cat

So an Electronic rebuild on the trans, valve body gone thru and a new cat
$750 and it's cocked, locked and ready to rock!

Running!

Took it to a guy that does trans work

He replaced all solenoids and switches and "went through" the valve body.
The power loss problem turned out to be a clogged cat

$750 and it runs like new!

Wow! I cant believe it cost that much! But this just goes to show one can rule nothing out on these cars! And never take anything at original face value! I would have never guessed it was the clogged cat that made the trans issues more prevelent!
