I'm going to attempt a pan drop on my 97 Bravada this weekend. Hope I can get the pan out without messing with the crossmember or lifting the transmission but will do what it takes to get the job done and I also plan on adding a B&M drain plug for future changes. Couple questions in case I do need to detach the tranny from the crossmember....
1. Where are the two bolts that need to be removed located? Are these the two bolts directly beneath the crossmember?
2. When lifting the transmission an inch or two can I use a regular car jack or do I need a special transmission jack? And where under the transmission can it be lifted?

i put the jack just behind the xmember.

any old jack, you could just wedge a board in if u wanted or have a body building midget hold it. its very unlikely your going to damage anything as long as your carefull. just remember to unbolt it from the xmember first, lol!

while werkin on this here 95 blazer 4x4 automatic w/ push button 4wd, I finally got the engine out. However, in pulling and pushing at it, and havin the trans on a stand (just incase), I noticed my trans started leaking from being supported by a jack and 2x6's. It's now leaked about 2 quarts and from what I can see it's coming from the pan gasket. Should I try to tighten the pan bolts when I'm done with this engine r+r, or just replace the gasket?
Thanks

In the future you should start your own thread to ask such questions that dont really have anything to do with the OP!
