Default removing transmission pan from 99 Blazer

Can someone tell me what this device is and how it's best removed when accessing transmission pan bolts? THANKS!

Default RE: removing transmission pan from 99 Blazer

You can remove the shift cable from the linkage on the end to the left of what is shown in the picture, then I believe you remove the metal clip that is to the left of the bracket on the plastic mount attached to the cable. This should allow you to pull the cable out of the bracket. However, when I did my trans service, I was able to get a 1/4" drive socket past the cable to remove the bolts. I used a short socket with a swivel and got the bolts out fairly easy. If you have trouble initially, you could use a wrench for the first bit, then once you are able to twist the bracket for more clearance, use a rachet.

Good luck
