So ive been having this problem with my '95 Blazer 4WD 4.3 V6. It will start sometimes and then ill shut it off then come back and it will just sit there and crank. it sounds like its not getting fuel. I also just replaced the Cam Position Sensor and the fuel pump. I used a scan tool on it and it says there is nothing wrong. It seems to be doing this when the car heats up. Usually when it doesnt start i leave it and go back to it like a day later and it will start right up. Im reall confused and aggrivated with it. If anyone knows of this problem and could gimme some tips that would be great.
Thank you,
Andy

A simple check of the fuel pressure with key on, but not started should tell you if you're getting adequate fuel pressure from the pump. Start up pressure needs to be about 60 psi. Attach a fuel guage to the fuel rail and check it. The pump could be bad even if it's new.

I will certainly try that. Thank you. But would that make sense if it only has this problem once it gets up to normal operating temps? Im thinking its something to do with my starter. Maybe its on its way out and its heating up some how. Thanks![sm=burnout.gif]

if it's cranking it's not the starter.

That is not entirely true. I just helped a co-worker out a few weeks ago. He had all the symptoms of a dying battery. Hit the starter with my trailer hitch (didn't have a hammer handy) and it cranked over like it was brand new. That lasted for about a week until I had to hit it again and then hit my co-worker upside the head for not taking it to get the starter replaced.
When you attempt to start the truck, does it crank over slower when it won't start than other times when it starts fine? This is a classic case of worn brushes in the starter.
Fuel issues are rarely intermittent...

One other thing I would do is check your battery connections and also the connection to the starter.. I know, I know, it sounds silly but I once drove my van 400 miles out of state on a trip (everything was fine before we left, no starting problems, nothing), got to the campground, parked the car. The next morning, crank, crank, crank, no start. I ended up polishing the battery connections really good and I was back in business (no more starting problems). The connections didn't look to bad visually either and I had anti-corrosion pads on the posts, too. A little time and sandpaper went a long way that trip. Even if it's not the problem, it won't hurt anything.

let me rephrase my post: if it's cranking fast and good like it should be, it's not the starter. i guess i made the mistake of assuming that he'd tell us if it didn't sound right when it was cranking.
