Anyone have any idea what this is? Even the dude at Autozone didnt know what the code was.

P1631 - Theft deterent system password incorrect

It appears to be the Passlock system not recognizing the start code. You will probably need the help of a Tech2 scanner (yeah, I know, dealership) to get it to relearn correctly. I don't believe a battery disconnect will solve it. Do you have a remote start, aftermarket alarm, or newly reprogrammed PCM in it?

 

I have an aftermarket alarm/remote start that I had installed in my truck 5 years ago when I first got it

 

My research on this code says that can be a contributing factor.

 

soooo what do I need to do? lol Do I need to take it to a dealership and have something reprogrammed?

 

My understanding is that they will have to use the Tech2 to make the PCM relearn the correct starting code.

 

Do you know if this is something I have to do soon b/c there may be a chance my truck wont start or is it something I can hold off on?
