I was in an accident today, rear-ended the ******* in front. Thankfully I hit the brakes, seeing as how he had a new Honda Civic you can guess which car stopped first, he's been in 9 accidents THIS YEAR. Anyway, the damage is mainly to the front defense, the radiator and the metal bar in the front. I'm planning on fixing all this myself, so hopefully I could get some help form you guys.

I have a v6 2wd 4-door 97' Blazer. It seems nothing major was damaged, just bent the front, car still runs as I had to get off the freeway for the highway patrol to take the information. I'll post pictures tomorrow, but I'll have to replace the front bumper, the metal bar running in front, radiator, and headlights. Anyone have any idea at all how much I'm looking at remotely? I'll be getting all this from the junkyards. Do I have to stick to 97' Blazers or can I branch out? Thanks guys

Doesn't look to bad, grab up a new core support, griile, bumper, fenders headlights, and hood and you'll be like new again.
Look at it this way, now is the perfect time to swap to the 98+ front end.

 

So can I use other years then? Or am I stuck with looking for 97 Blazers?

 

Since you have to replace the front end anyway, you certanily can change the style of it.
To keep the same style you have now you would be looking for 95-97 Blazers or 94-97 S10.
To change over to the new style it's 98-05 Blazer or 98-04 S10.

Will the core support and hood fit it as well?

 

I have a 95 that took a hit like that and I put on a 99 nose. The only 2 differences I found were the transmission lines to the radiator were a different nut size, easy fix with 2 flare nuts, tubing cutter, and flare tool. And one of the airbag sensors was different, drilled rivets and reriveted the one off the 95 to the 99 core support. Pretty simple job

 

make sure you check the transmission cooler lines oil cooler lines, oil filter mount make sure that is all good and the radiator, they can crack easily. The front end on these is a piece of cake as long as you didnt bend the frame good luck, lmctruck.com has cheap parts or craigslist a lot of ppl part these out!

What is the line that goes on the driver's side of the radiator called? It carries oil but I'm not sure if it's the one that goes to the oil filter.
And what are these metal blocks called? Can I replace them or what can I do?
