What is this part? - Coolant leak
If or when the gasket leaks, the coolant usually runs along the top of the lower intake manifold where it meets the cylinder head. When it reaches the rear of the engine, it runs down the rear of the head, and eventually to the ground. When the head is hot, the coolant will usually burn or evaporate leaving no evidence except a white ish color residue. If it continues to leak when the head is cool, it will leave a wet trail. Using a small mirror on a stick can help spot the residue or trail.
Hook; Here is an odd development. I drove it 50 miles today (all highway mileage) and it (so far) does not have a tell tale spot of coolant underneath where it had pooled the other day. I marked the coolant level on the expansion tank yesterday so I could get an idea of how much was leaking. This afternoon I find that the coolant level is sitting right on the marked line. To say I don't get it is an understatement, but I will continue to monitor it. Thanks for your help!
