Driver window was erratic, finally it stuck for good in the up position. I tried a couple of the tests mentioned here to see if it was the switch or motor but got no definitive answer, so I ordered a switch. It came today but before I wired it up I unplugged the motor and ran power straight from a 12v battery to the terminals Nothing. Switched terminals and got a faint clicking from the motor but nothing like action.
Is that (gulp) proof positiive I need a new motor?
I would say so. I has the same problem with mine before it went, but mine got stuck down. Got a door from the scrap yard and painted it, they let me test it before I left the lot to make sure the window worked, lost my tiny, my gained a working window...
Problem solved!!! Acting on a tip seen here on blazerforum I gave the window motor several whacks with a hammer. Connected a battery directly to the motor and zzzipp. Window up, window down. I hope it lasts and though I have a new, now-unnecessary switch (for sale), I am happy.
The most tedious job was detaching and reattaching the switch terminals, which are pinned in by plastic lockers. I'll try to attach a pic that might save someone the time needed to figure it out.
Also if you want to test the window switch, note the power for it comes through the door lock switch, so that needs to be plugged in. For the door panel you'll need a 7mm socket and probably plastic door panel clips the number is GM 10153057.
