Kinda' bumpin' an old post, however, I have a question about the torque.

First, for the shackles, it's the "Shackle-to-frame nuts" and "Shackle-to-spring nuts" which are both 89 foot pounds, correct?

Then also, when doing this, can I just go to my local hardware store and pickup any torque wrench?

Thanks.

Yeah those numbers are all measured in ft lbs. Any torque wrench should work just make sure it can tolerate that much. I have one that looks pretty heavy duty but it only measures up to 100 inch pounds and isn't good for much (other than using as a breaker bar since it's so long)

Alrightie. I plan on doing this when I get the money... I need to invest in some jack stands, maybe a jack, etc.

Question, do you know if the stock scissor jack on a 2002 Blazer works well enough for this? Or are the jacks that come with the Blazer only good enough for lifting up 1 corner to change a tire?

I imagine this is probably a dumb question, but ZR2 Blazers are able to do the shackle/Tbar crank lift too right?

Well, yes ZR2's have torsion bars, so I assume you could crank them, and I am guessing they have shackles (you can check that).

Anyway, I can top off your dumb question with a better one.

What's the difference between ZR2 and ZR1? Also, I looked over all of my papers I got from purchasing my Blazer and it says nothing about whether it's LS or ZR2 or anything of that sort. It's just a 2002 4WD 4D Blazer.

I think I've read on the warning label inside the jack compartment that it's only meant for one corner at a time. You will likely need a floor jack anyways to lower and line up the rear end correctly for the new shackles. (I did, but I might have been able to do without it if I did the frame bolts before the spring bolts)

Yup ZR2s can do it.

A ZR1 has a supercharged LS9 engine. It's also a C6 Corvette instead of an S10

ZR2s typically have a big ZR2 logo on the rear corners and they have differences in the frame and suspension that give them a higher ride height and wider wheel base. Most (all?) of them came with the 8.5" G80 rear differential and a steel front differential case (as opposed to the aluminum case). They also came with fender flares to cover the tires and many came with composite fiber underbody skid plates. If you check in your glovebox, there should be a sticker with a bunch of three digit codes, if you have a ZR2 model, it will be listed there. Also, they were only offered in the 2DR models (although the S10 pickup had a similar ZR5 option on the 4DR crew cab models)

Ok good. I knew it has tbars and shackles, just wasn't sure if the tbars were already cranked from the factory or whatever to get the added 3" of lift.

Thanks for the reply. I've noticed the gigantic ZR2 logo on many Blazers, and I certainly don't have it. I suppose I just have a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4WD 4-Door?
I just want to make sure I got the name right for the sake of people asking.

Yup, that's just a regular LS model.
