1/2 din CD Changer?
Ive been looking into a new HU for my blazer and would like to upgrade to something with ipod control. The only downside to this is not having a cd changer. My question is, if i have a 1.5 din slot in my bezel and a 1 din hu, is there an external cd changer made that is only .5 din? im not sure if ive seen one but maybe someone has? thanks for any help guys!

Even with slot loading, you just aren't gonna fit multiple CDs plus the mechanism to play them (and change them in this case) into a 1/2 DIN slot. If you really need a CD changer, try adding a full size one in your center console. Or in place of your glovebox? or maybe do some surgery to another part of the truck and get creative.
Another solution is modding one of the indash 6 CD changer from GM to accept iPod controls. They're double DIN size, but you can fit that with some work. I think there are some aftermarket companies that make products that attach to the rear of the OEM radio for your iPod.

sorry i didnt mean a changer, just a single cd reader so i still have the option to listen to cds

I'm not sure about just cd players, but there are a good amount of 1/2 din dvd players out there. It'd be cheaper to buy a cd changer that can be controlled by the headunit and throwing that in the back somewhere. Because the 1/2 din dvd players start around $150

wait... you confused me there... 9/10ths of the head units out there read cds and have an ipod connect. my alpine unit reads cd's and came with the wire for my ipod, all i have to do is hit source.

the alpine control decks are flawless in every way except they dont play cds without an external drive. hense my looking into a 1/2 din drive, ive found a couple but think ill probably just end up with a changer in my center console.

I would personally get a changer so that you can still control it with the headunit. It would also be cheaper then a 1/2 din.
