Default 1998 blazer radio and subwoofer questions

Hello all I'm new here and just got a 1998 blazer. I have tried searching through the forums to find a few specific answers with no luck, I am wondering if a double din cd/dvd player will directly fit into the dash of my 1998 Chevy Blazer 2dr? Is my stock radio 1.5 or double din. If there is any how-to tutorials with pictures or even just pictures of finished installs that would be great. I just don't know whether to buy a regular cd player or go after the double din and I'm not to partial to the flip out dvd players. I was also on a car audio team and was wondering if anyone can tell me the best layout for subs behind the rear seats with results from the TL mic? I have 4 15's right now previously installed in my explorer but would have to build a different box to make them fit into the blazer and didn't know if there are better options out there due to lack of space...i.e. (4) 12's, (2) 15's, (2) 18's, etc. Thanks for your time, Mark.

as far as room for subs, it depends on the subs as you probubly know. also if your main thing is the TL mic then you should be getting 12s instead of 15s. the three designs i have seen do the best in blazers are:
straight up: usually 4x 12s in box all shooting straight up from floor.

multi direct box: 4 12s again with two facing back wall and 2 towards the roof.

V wall: tried and true. have found combos from 4x 12s, to 4x 15s, 8x 12s, and 8x 15s.

one i have been working on for a while that i have yet to really build was a design that was a horn shaped tube, narrow in the back and bigger as it came forward, and housed 16x 12 inch subs with 1.25 cubic feet each of airspace. this was inspired from a good friend and ex-boss that owned the audio shop i started in. he built a wall that had a diamond cut back in the middle. on each of the four sides was 2x MA Audio Hardcore 12s. Lanzar opti 2000D amps at 1/2 ohm for each set. registered a 154 on the TL and it wasnt even built for comp.if you want to get a little more specific on what your starting with or what your plans are now i would be willing to help with any design or Qs you may have. let me know.

ps - it is a 1.5 din stock, but that can change with a dremel. otherwise just a norm single din will have to do.

I have 4 15" Hifonics Olympus V.2 dual 2ohm subwoofers from Eric Alexander with 2 european hifonics goliath gx3000 3KRMS amps (.5ohm stable all day long). This is not just about the TL numbers, it will all be in my daily driver and if I go to comp's it will most likely be to bassrace or do drive by. Also is there anyone else around medina, ohio?

i would suggest a V wall setup myself for those 4 to get good air space, unless you are willing to take out the back seat, then face em all to the top.

i want to get four of the Hifonics 15 inch olympus 6400 watt subs and two of the Lanzar Opti Drive 6000 rms amps or 2 of the Hifonics Sampsons @ 8000 rms each. but i dont have the extra funds yet.

Those subs are discontinued along with mine. If you are looking for some though. I am selling mine in order to get 4 12's or 2 big 12's/15's I still don't know. PM me for details. Those were made just for SPL and sounded like crap

what 12s are you thinking? or which 15s?
im partial to Digital Designs (DD), Treo, Resont Engineering(RE), JL Audio, American Bass

i know the 8x 15 inch American Bass VFLs in a Astro with 1500 rms each was a decent setup. I hear a lot of hype about the Kicker SoloX 18 - could get 2 of those, and the 10k watts each

I would like to get my hands on some DD's either 12's or 15's preferably "f" or "g" models. If I go to 2 subs I would want to see if i could do a bandpass box. I don't want to wall the blazer. Right now im just trying to figure out how I can get everything so I can have some kind of system to listen to. I have no money right now so everything has to be by trade

in that case i would trade the 4 subs for 2 good ones to listen too, and keep the amps. maybe do a craigslist for them under the trade section. Or maybe your audio shop friend might be able to set something up for you. Maybe he can sell them to someone at a discount from MMRP and that just happens to pay the whole cost of the DDs.

Got a question for anyone, I've been looking it up on here but haven't found an exact answer...I have the 98 2dr blazer and was wondering what year(s) did they make my door panel for? I.E. did they make the same door panels from 1996-2004, etc?
