Default 4 Channel Amp Settings

Well I started playing with my 4 ch alpine amp that powers my 4 polk 6501's and 691s. I have listed links to them below so you can find more information on them. What I want to know is some adivce on how to set it. Like there is two crossovers. One for ch 1 & 2 and ch 3 & 4. Well I set them just 3 clicks under the max because anything under that seems like it distorts. What should I set the cross overs at? What should I set the gain at? Anything else I should know?

Another question I have is why do my speakers sound like they are distoring when I turn the radio up almost all the way? My amp puts out 90 rms x 4 x 4 ohms. And my speakers handle 100 rms and 300 max. So whats the deal with that?

On my other sub amp should I turn on sub sonic?

Also what do you guys think of this amp and speakers? I like the amp, but not to sure about the speakers. They have amazing clarity and highs but seems to lack mids and lows.

your speakers are most likely distorting because you didnt properly set the gain (check out the sticky on how to do that). make sure the "filter" switch is set to off. also make sure the bass EQ is set to off. You dont need to use the crossovers on the amp because your speakers came with built in passive crossovers.

just because your speakers are 100rms and your only putting 90 to them dosent mean you left yourself headroom for distortion.

to much or too little power dosent create distortion.

Well dont the speakers come with external crossovers? Do I need to rip apart the doors to get to them and set them? What should I set my crossover on my amp then if I dont need to use the crossover on the amp? Where is the bass eq located at on the amp... I dont see it.

I dont think the "3way" speakers you bough come with external crossovers. I think its all built in. It doesnt matter where the crossover dial is set to on the amp since you hav ethe switch turned to "off" and it isnt being used. If your amp doesnt have a bass eq switch then dont worry about it.

What does the I/R In wire do? It came unplugged a while back and I lost where the other wire was. I thought it dropped down behind the dash. Nothing seemed wrong so I went without it. But today I found it again and plugged it back in. Just curious what this wire does? Also I cut the orage Illumination wire since people said to do this because I was getting major static for 4 seconds when I turned my HID lights on. Well its still doing this...why?
