4 channel amps
how would i go about powering my 6 speakers with 1 4 channel amp? would the amp have to be 2ohm stable? was looking at the alpine mrp-f240 says 40rms/channel, but im betting my apples its underrated

RE: 4 channel amps
the best way to do this is have an amp that will run 2 ohm stable and if it is a high quality brand the rms should close to double when dropped to 2 ohms from 4. then just have the front 4 run into the 2 channels...as long as they are 4 ohm speakers you'll be set. just make sure you get an amp that will run 2 ohm and retain power for each speaker
another option would be to have the door speakers run of a 4 channel and have the dash run off the head unit. of course the dash wont be as loud as the doors but the only reason they are there is to focus the audio to the front seats. besides most 4x6s cant handle as much power as the 6.5s.
about the amp being underated...a good thing to do would be to go to crutchfield.com and if under the amps specs it says it is "CEA-2006 complient" then the output stated is the true out put. click on the "CEA-2006 complient" inorder to learn more about this.
good luck

RE: 4 channel amps
thanks vette, all newer alpine amps are cea rated, which means the amp will put out at least that much power, every alpine is underrated
