Or its the Hifonics BXi 1606D

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16368.

Would this be able to power 2 12"s Type R?

the Alpine and the HiFonics will out out about the same amount of power at 1 Ohm. Either will work just fine.

I don't think that alpines amps are 1 ohm stable.

nope, not stable at 1 ohm........very nice amp, but your paying for the digital read out. 1000rms for the alpine for 309, or 250 for 1600rms with the bx1606.

although the alpine is a really nice amp, its a little overpriced when compared to hifonics. Those R's will love the extra power assuming their the new models with the hamr surround.

I payed waaaaaaay to much for my amp retail.........
