you can get a Sundown SA-12 for $189. It is 600RMS but will take 800 just fine. What state do you live? You might want to check around to see if there are any Sundown dealers in the area or if anyone is running Sundown and listen to some different setups.
If your door speakers your going to want to find a HU with a full EQ since you wont be able to do any tuning from your amplifier.
I dunno who told you sealed boxes are better for varieties of music but they are full of crap. They sound good for good tight bass but ported boxes produce a much better sound IMO. All my boxes have been ported and I could play everything from jazz to chopped and screwed music and it sounded good on everything. Its all about your build.
Im not trying to steer you away from what you want to do. I just want you to make sure you do a little research before you build, make sure you do it properly and that its what you want. We can guide you and help you along the way with suggestions and input but ultimately its your decision on what you wanna do.

I appreciate all of your help. I know a little but I'm always up to learn lol. I really don't want to waste my money. Also what is your view on the whole 'break-in' of a subwoofer?

that sub and headunit are both very nice. I think you will be happy with them. As far as the break-in period on a subwoofer.........let me put it this way...I threw my 2 18s in and put each of them on a Sundown SAZ-3000 at .5 daily and just started banging it lol. I dont really do break-in periods but thats just me lol

i have never been a "break in" kind of guy. i put the sub in and turn it up. the only thing i every "broke in" was my speakers so i didn't do something stupid because i have more power on tap than the rms of the speakers. plus, they're kind of cheap speakers so

I can't say I ever broke anything other than skates in lol. If you were to break in a sub for the soft parts. Then would it just break it in to the volume you play it at. Once you think its "broken in" making it hit harder is making the excursion further and having to break it in more! Why not do it all at once. Just beat it!

i too have never broken in a sub, but again, it differs from sub to sub. some are quite a bit stiffer to begin with, but still, i dont think subs are as fragile as alot of people think. They are after all, doing what they were built to.
ive never "blown" a sub, and thats with overpowering, underpowering, short lengths of a clipped signal, prolonged playing at high excursion, you name it....i wouldnt be worried about it

If it had under 50 miles i think id take it easy for atleast a little while to break it in, but thats just me.
