Car Audio Discussion
Great thread so far. I'm a big fan of JL and PG stuff myself, but there are lots of great brands out there.
I don't want to take this in a different direction, but have any of you used any of the spray on sound deadeners. I recently sprayed my doors, tailgate, floor, and storage area of my blazer with Spectrum and it is by and far better than the Dynamat I use to use. I had the complete interior out, and figured a little masking and I should give it a try. Messy as sin, but great results.

I've never had an opportunity to try the spray on deadeners. They look decent enough, though I've always been a fan of RaamMat. Mainly due to the fact that they have REAL butyl material, it works pretty darn good, and prices that don't murder the bank account. I know there's better products out there right now, but for the price it's too hard for me to pass up. Way I figure it though, be it Dynamat, Second Skin, Audiowrap, Cascade VB1, RaamMat, Spectrum, or whatever, anything is better than nothing at all. Especially as long as it's REAL butyl material.
i agree alton. i use raammat, brother uses dynamat, and friends use whatever they can find. i'd happily use anything that you just mentioned. i have second skin ensolite and MLV and love that stuff. so it all depends on personal preference and who you want to spend money on.
spray on is something i want to try on my next vehicle.

Anything may be better than nothing for sure, but you may be surprised there really is an audible difference between Peal and Seal and real sound deadener. Plus P&S has a bad tendency not to stick for very long. Believe me, I've tried it and while it was better than nothing, I ended up replacing it with RaamMat cuz it just wouldn't stay on.
is the kit on this link a good starter kit? for a 500$ kit i would think it would be pretty crappy but i dont know. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-Hifonics.html
$500... well... it depends... do you already have a HU or anything else? If not, then it's not a bad way to start I suppose. Definitely not the best products by any means, but not complete trash either. I could set you up with an all inclusive list of items that would total closer to $1,000 but would be MUCH better products than those listed. I have done about a dozen installs with that list and everyone has been very happy with the end results. Like I said though, it all kinda depends on what, if anything, you already have. Hell, if I dug deep enough I could probably come up with a list close to $500 and still be better than what's listed.
