Default Connecting passive subwoofer

Hey,

I haven't been on here a while since I sold my Blazer but now my friend has one and wants to connect a non-powered sub to his head unit. On the back of the head unit, there is a left and right rear audio output and on the sub there is just the + and - terminals. How do I connect this? Do I tap into the 2 wires on the back of the rear door speakers and go from there?

I guess I should have posted this in the electronics forum thing. Should I move it? Or can a mod do it for me? Sorry.

What model head unit id your friend running at what is the impedance of the subwoofer. On some pioneers you can bridge the rear channels at a 4ohm load and switch the rear spekers to sub frequencies. If your head unit doesnt allow this than without some sort of crossover you will be sending a full range signal to your sub, which wouldnt be good for it...also, unless its a small sub with a high sensitivity you arent going to get much out of it. The bridged rear channels put out around 30-50wrms total depending on the head unit...

well he might blow his HU up in the process if he doesnt know what hes doing. MOST head units can NOT be bridged so dont let him do that.
