yeah lol i know its an old kicker. my dads friend bought it 10 or so ago i think, and he put it in a cusom box and never ended up using it. so its old but is in good condition, now that i look at it again im pretty sure it is paper cone but maybe just a nicer paper cone sub..? but it dosnt sound abnormal to me but then again i havnt heard a variety of different car subs. but moste songs it sounds good but some songs it kind of has that knocking base, i cant really explain it. so i think trying a friends sub would be a good idea, i have a friend who knows alot about car audio and has alot of subs. the only problem with that tho is my sub just has speaker wire going to the back and connected with the screw down clamps. i dont know how i would connect a different sub to that if it doesnt have the same thing. thank you for the replys.

if it is a paper cone, then that kicker is probably from way back in the day when kicker made decent quality SQ gear. Id hold on to that gem if I were you.

^^ I do agree to that. Even if you do go the route of getting a new sub, this one is still a keeper. If for no other reason than just the nostalgia. It being a paper cone makes it a fair bit older than 10 years old. The Kicker Competition series with the "break through" kevlar cone technology came out in the early 90's if I remember right. I would imagine yours is at least from that era.

Yeah I think it was more like 15+ years ago that he got it. But it might be the kevlar cone the part where the kicker logo is, is paper but surrounding that is something else. I will deffinently will be using it for a while tho. It may be old but hey music still sounded really good 15 years ago.
