i'm very familiar with CVRs, my buddy had a 12 ported with that amp that i installed, sounded great in his monte but not so much in my blazer, too loud with too little definition. that, and i'm not a huge kicker sub fan, i love the amps though

Let me tell ya, I don't need the toys, but they make it funner! 6'1, 285 pounds I'm not a small guy by any means. But this isn't about the bouncing of pecs in the gym...

When Kicker came out with the square L5 and L7 they have became the fashion statement of the year just like Audiobahn was popular back in about 00-02. Now JL has kicked Kickers *** out of the spotlight. Just wondering if another huge corporation like Alpine or someone will reclaim the throne, or if Sundown or FI or a underground group will finally hit the mainstream?

Or will we get another flash in the pot fad like Volfenhagen? HA HA. Ahh I'm bored and thinking too much. Gonna get something to eat.

I'm thinking it'll stay between the big guys like Kicker, Alpine, JL, and possibly someone like Kenwood because they have such a base as is and a history. Sundown is an amazing little company but thats their problem, they can only appeal to the huge bass heads and amp work, they don't have full range (maybe in the future but idk) and are too small to become a competitor like Kicker or JL in any huge market. As always, i could be wrong and will admit it if i am.

I'm 6'3 and about 240 right now, i have put down people twice my size and not out of anger or stupidity but out of standing up for myself or my idiot friends who run their mouths. i feel like i should wear a security jacket when i go out haha.

Back to audio, I'm sure there will be something new and exciting out later this summer but right now i'm happy with doing basic maintenance on my truck and fixing all my little toys like the center console i'm yet to finish, my wiring needs to be re run and what not so, like i said, you'll see week long photos of my blazer in pieces and all that great stuff that we all love to see

So, i talked to my brother who A) has the money to do what he wants, B) is mad at my mom for not telling him she had stuff that needed fixing and C) wants his little brother (me) to have a system worthy of my audio addiction.

For dirt cheap, i will be getting the Pioneer DEH-P880PRS radio, the JL Audio 1000/1 amp, JL Audio 300/4, and the JL Audio 300/4 to use for whatever i want. The only thing i have to do in return is build the home theater in his basement while i'm there and figure out how to get him the JL 600/4 and JL 750/1 HD amps for less than a grand (they run about $650 each). oh, and drive myself, my girlfriend, and my dog down to Virginia for a week to do it all. So, we'll all see pictures of my truck in pieces in my driveway for the next month but then all of a sudden build pictures in a completely different driveway in mid-late July..

I'm just a little grateful for my big brother realizing he hasn't always been there and trying to fix that problem from about 550 miles away

A week on a home theater system... So is this running wires in the walls and mounting speakers? Or doing everything up to and including shucking ears of corn for popcorn?

But really though that sounds alright. I'm surprized your going with pioneer on the headunit. Don't get me wrong, that's one of the best in the preimer line. And I don't mean anything bad by this, but I thought with how you like JL and the "higher end" brands you would have gone with Alpine or something like that. Agian not insinuating anything.

So now that your headunit, sub amp and mids/highs amp is secured and accounted for, any more thought on the sub(s)? I know you had the two choices ^ a few posts back you were debating on. You gonna leave the drop in's that are in the doors now there for a while or are you gonna redo them also?

I gotta do something about my set-up. I need an alt so I can set the amp the way I want without looking like a strobe light. And probley need to build a box. Cause I had a water leak that was dripping on the box and where it was dripping you can feel the warping in the wood . I think I might just build a simple sealed box for them and focus on getting a better set of subs and building a quality ported box for those.

I have JL Audio VR 6.5s i'll put in the doors because they were given to me brand new by my buddy for installing a full blown system, light bar, lights, hids, and racing seats in his subaru. i'm not a fan of the car but i am a fan of the free speakers and $200 i got from him.

i honestly would put Pioneer radios up there with alpine anyday. but when you get to the best of both their products like the 880prs and the alpine CDA-9887, they're both great. i'm still not sure on the subwoofer setup yet but only time will tell and my local shop who is an authorized dealer in everything is running a buy one get one setup on JL audio so i might hit them up for dual w3s or something.

For the home theater, i put up all the framework back around new years and will be putting up 2 layers of drywall, prepping that for a professional to tape and mud the walls while i'm there and then putting all the speakers and subs in the walls/ceiling, and subs up front and behind. So, i will be a master installer of home theaters haha. yeah, it sucks but it'll pay off in the end

Yeah I forgot about you mentioning those VR's you had. And take pictures of the home theater install. All around handyman is a skill that can get you some good extra income, just like mowin lawns and auto repair. I'm starting to take pics of all the installs and such I do for furture reference. Now that people see I've got the skills to back the audio game I talk I'm getting people comin from everywhere wanting audio installs.

Hey if JL treats ya good, stay with it. If you want something diffrent maybe try a diffrent style box. I'd like to run a couple 13w7's just to know what the hoopla is about. Then agian I'd like to run some 18 inch TC sounds and 18 inch FI BTL's but somethings are just out of my league, lol.
