Default question

i have posted a lot on here lately and i want to quickly throw out a huge thanks to everyone

ok but heres the question

alpine type r 12" sub
alpine mrp-m450

im told to wire the sub at a 2ohm load so it can take 400watts from the amp

do i need to do that if the subs already a 2ohm sub not a 4ohm sub?

because theres a guy selling a 2ohm type r in a qlogic ported box for 110

Default RE: question

im sure one of the pro's on here will be able to say for sure but i thought a 2ohm sub would be either 1ohm or 4ohm depending on the way you wire it. my amp puts out power at 2ohms so i bought a 4ohm sub that way, when i wire it up it will recieve all 750w instead of just 400w

Option 1 (parallel) = 1 ohm load
Voice coils wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 1 ohm mono

Option 2 (series) = 4 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono

Default RE: question

end caps are purely comsmetic. will hide the wiring some. and the high level input is the plug that will let you get signal from the speaker wires behind the radio instead of RCA's (if you have a factory HU
