Sirius Radio Mounting
I recently bought a used KTC-SR901 Sirius receiver for my Kenwood HU. Mounting the external antenna is no problem. My problem lies in where to mount the unit itself. I had thought of putting it under the rear seat but since I carry people in the back there is clearance problems. Same with the front seats. Is there room behind the glove box? The unit is about 1 1/2 inch tall and about 8 x 8 inches. It has a small fan inside it so I guess it needs to be out in the open so it can breathe. Any ideas?
The most logical place to put it that I can see is in the rear cargo area just behind the rear seat. Im open to suggestions.
Thanks

Not familiar with your interior or if it is the same but on my 2000, I have mine sirius under the rear seat (have to position it a little so the seat will close but ever had a problem with it being crushed) ... I also have a head unit brain under the front passenger seat and never had a problem with that either however i did cut the carpet a little under the seat and i believe i took out the plastic A/C /Heater vent thing that sends the air to the back to give me more room. Another place i have stuff stashed is under the center console.
Hope this helps.

I looked at having it under the seat but I'm not real comfortable with it there. It's a bit tight.
After looking around a bit and doing some more measuring and poking around I think I'm going to put it in the rear cargo area just behind the rear wheelwell. There is a nice flat piece of carpet there and I can hide the cables and it will be out of the way.
This is going to be used with a Kenwood KDC-MP225 HU. It's not a very pretty unit but it gets the job done. It sounds decent and plays MP3's.

Yea, that does seem to be your best bet then. The good part is that you are already in the back and you can go through the truck door molding to mount the antenna on the roof of the car. Hopefully your cable though going to the head unit is long enough or you might need an extention.
I stretched out the connector cable that came with it and I will have plenty to run up to the HU. There is about 20 ft of antenna wire so no worries there. I just want a neat installation. I'll put some pics up when its all done
