Default subs cutting out on new amplifier

So today my friend and I decided to have a little bump contest in the parking lot 2day, and my subs were playing fine 2day while I was driving 2 the lot and once I got there and popped my trunk and all the lights were on in my car my subs cut out. Not completely though, just werent as loud- and im running them off of a new 2000 watt amplifier. Could this be a short of power in my car or could this be an amp problem, even tho I've had my amp for about a month now.???

Maybe try not popping the trunk and keeping the interior lights off and trying it that way...maybe your volts are too low...was the car off when you tried to turn it up??...if it was try turning it up with the car on...i know in my blazer when the car is off i only see 12.2V when it is on i see 14.4V+...sound like you need all the juice you can find....what kinda amp and subs??..thanks

all depends on how they are wired too. if the impeadence is too low then it will cause your amp to cut in and out.
