Default Will 2-Channel Amp Wired To Subs Work?

I have a a couple of sub's (15in/500w) and was gonna pick up a 2-channel amp for them and was wondering if this will work with the stock head unit for a '95 4-door Blazer LS ??? Wanna make sure I don't have to get a new head unit/cd player.

if you get a LOC (line out converter) you can use the stock headunit

Just be careful wiring the subs to a 2 channel amp. If you wire to too low of a resistance, boom. I would recommend buying a Monoblock, cleaner sound than bridging two channels, and less of a headache, as most mono amps can be wired to 1Ohm.

um, no. Where are you getting your info? who says that a mono is cleaner than a 2ch? And MOST monos are only 2ohm stable. A select handfull are 1ohm stable, and most of those are trash.

I rarely see Mono amps that aren't 1Ohm stable. Then again, I rarely see cheap amps. Massive, Diamond, ID, MA, Arc, and the other brands I deal with all have 1ohm stable mono amps. If Boss audio and Hifonics making 1ohm stable amps makes "most" 1ohm amps garbage, then I suppose that's your judgement to make. I won't touch their product with a ten foot pole.

Also, ANY time you alter, merge, or split a signal you create distortion. LOC? Distortion. $20 RCA cables with no shielding? Distortion. Y-splitters? Distortion. Bridging channels? Distortion. Wire your subs to your amp with cheap 18 gauge wires? Power loss AND distortion. The awesome thing about 2 channel amps for subs is having all the extra wiring options from bridging or wiring separate channels, but I don't do it anymore. I have a 4 channel for my doors and a mono for my sub, and that's given me better sound than people I know bridging cheap secondhand 2 channel amps to get power for their dollar.

Of course, I've seen LOCs catch fire as well, so I tend not to recommend them to anyone. I understand they have their place though for people who just don't want a new head unit.
