Interesting setup on the intake and hood! I like it.
Thanks! That was not how I originally thought this would go. I bought 2" spacers for clearance issues I was having and then the intake hit to top of the hood (pointing forward). The shop manual talks about "ram" air being produced at the base of the windshield while moving for the ventilation setting. so I went with the concept...
lots of extra cutting and welding (grinding I should say). The actual hood is super heavy now. Not sure I would have added the gauges where it did. It all worked out for the best. I like it better this way. Thanks for the comment!
Also going with the Wilwood rear disk conversion. Sharing as I was not aware they made such a clean set. they incorporate the e-brake with a drum inside the rotor. Check them out. I still need to take the axel out to measure the axel flange to order the correct set. S-10 kit
Sent the frame to get sandblasted and powder coated. the rear brake conversion came in today and I mocked it up to make sure everything fits and was included inside the kit. I really like it compared to the other kits with external e-brake mechanicals on the outside. the drawbacks are price and the need for shim washers (came with the kit) to center the calipers over the rotor. Wilwood doesn't have a matching front rotor but I found one from powerstop (AR8606XR & AR8606XL) that are really close. Matching Wilwood front caliper kit is
. those are 15 " rims and clearance would be too close if not running spacers. they technically will clear but I would see rocks or other debris getting in between and causing issues.
Next I have a weld on axle truss for a Dana 44 coming. I hope its not too much modifying to make it look good.
Seems very reasonable. for those folks near the center of the US. I will share pictures and review of work once I pick it up. Now sure you could do the job yourself for less....
Not a bad price on the blast powder coat! Looks like your moving right along!
The company has a cost estimator and and a very nice facility. Very "country" like costumer service. I drove 1.5 hours to drop the frame off (3hrs round trip). I wish I had some smaller parts ready when I dropped the frame. Too far away just to drop parts off daily.
got the truss in the mail yesterday. seems like it will work with a bit of trimming. I rounded the top of the diff housing and trimmed some on the truss. I'll post the finished product once complete. the sway bar mount is right at the end of the truss so that will need to be modified as well. I'm happy that it will work and yes its mostly for looks.
