Your build has a "road warrior" vibe to it, maybe a take on the stealth aircraft programs. I can see where you're going with it. Have you given any thought as to how much space the small block will eat up in the engine compartment when you make the swap? The radiator is going to need to be moved into the radiator support, maybe all the way into it. Just something to be aware of.

Yes I have. Research says 4.5 inches should be okay. I have the 383 complete and have verified that length with off frame measurements. the problem that I might run into is the front drive parts. Not sure too many people doing a v8 have kept the 4x4 capability. I might have to slide the engine foreword some and that might be an issue. Other options to consider at that point will be converting to a vet accessory package saves about 1.5 " or removing the fan shroud and mounting the fans directly to the radiator. also I could convert to a full front axel if it really comes down to it. All in time....

shaved the front bumper, moved the winch behind the grill, passenger side radiator header completed.

Installed new hood latches. Will remove the cable once the new blocks proves good... In the process I broke the d. side headlight mount. Ordered new style headlights.
Amazon headlight assembly Amazon headlight assembly

Proposed grill design.
