2000 Boring Blazer Build
#201
So I got an auto pumpkin Android 6.2 double din head unit. I bought a tan bezel from a user on S10Forum and painted it duplicolor graphite, which by the way isn't even close. I have had it for about 2 months.
Here it is with the torque app running.

It is using the Passat gauge theme which is blue with red needles. It looks better than in the picture, I guess my camera washes it out.
Here is a list of pros and cons
Pros:
double din
touch screen
Android OS
GPS
video/audio input
iPod control
2 USB inputs
backup camera
Wifi
3g expandability
runs all android apps
Bluetooth (the phone call quality is very good)
AM/FM
Cons:
The music player sucks!
No shuffle option
doesn't work with iPod classic.
built in i Go GPS is awful
sub woofer output with no sub woofer control (that's almost pointless)
The blue amp turn on / power antenna stopped working. I had to use my ignition on wire for my amp.
if you have the ignition on and then start the car it will automatically start playing my thumb drive from the beginning of the list. This wouldn't be so bad if I could shuffle it.
No satellite radio option.

Grabbed this guy from the u pull it for about $5. it was faded grey so I hit it with some black interior paint. The carpet sure likes to suck up paint. I used almost an entire can.

Just in case you weren't sure what it is.

BLAAAAACK!!

Since I don't have any use for a stock tape deck and my aftermarket pocket didn't fit right, I figured I could make constructive use of the space. So I got a sheet of 1/8" ABS plastic and some epoxy.
So I pulled the cover off and made a cardboard template for the back

Then I traced it onto the ABS.

Then I cut it out with a dremel tool.

Test fit (required some fine tuning)

I didn't like the corners sticking up so I used a little heat and bent them down.

Then I epoxied it in place and drilled a hole to add . That way I can plug my USB drive in and I can connect external video using a 1/8 jack.

I also plan on adding a **** for my sub woofer, and moving my seat heater switches here.

My tail lights were getting very hazy. So I decided to see how a headlight polishing kit would work on them. It turned out ok. I might try it again with a power ball and rubbing compound.

Decided to shorten my Antenna. It was a very easy mod. I just taped off the area to cut and used a dremel with a cut off wheel. then topped it off with a vacuum cap.

Doh!, I forgot to take a picture of it on the car.

Finally posted the touchscreen! Looking good!
Question:
How did you get your ipod to play. I got mine to charge but not play. Its a nano 4th
Answers:
Replace iGo. Yes it sucks and my map files corrupted.
Music player also sucks, no shuffle as you mentioned. I installed the default android music player. Music buttons don't work with it (yet), but I hit shuffle and play when I start up then minimize it for Torque
