Decided to replace my rag joint. Grabbed this guy on eBay for $30. It has gone up by a couple dollars. It feels pretty solid. I started mounting it yesterday. I had to split the rag joint and cut the flared end off of the shaft. Once I did that I put it on the shaft and tightened the set screws to mark it. I drilled them out to make a seat for the set screws. Once i did that I got started on putting it on. One of the set screws is too long ant it hits the frame so I only get about 1/4 of a turn in each direction. I need to cut it down or get a shorter one. I will finish it up today and post pictures tonight or tomorrow.

It is definitely a little firmer but I still feel a bit of play in it. So I think it is going to either by my steering box or my tilt joint.

Once your sure that's where it's gonna live, then I recomend putting red loctite on all the set screws. You don't ever want them coming loose going down the road.

 

That is the plan. Even though I had to use a small pry bar to get it off after test fitting it.

So my dash lights keep going out. I tried Toyota bulb holders but they didn't really work because of the layout of the GM board. I also tried using the GM connectors with LEDs soldered in, and they keep going out.

So I grabbed these on Amazon

The connectors allow me to make my own harness since they have external pigtails but still twist into the stock locations. I connected it to the fog light harness wires since they come on with the headlights and I don't have fog lights.




These bulbs are bright.



Test shot in the middle of the day, once again, they are bright.



My harness, it is nothing special but it is soldered, shrink wrapped and taped together. Hopefully it holds up well.



This is the fog light connector that I used. I just peeled the insulation back on the wires and connected that way. If anyone is curious. The black is ground and the grey is positive and turns on and off with the headlights.

Well, my cheap Chinese tires are getting close to the wear bars. I am actually impressed with how well they ride and how great they do in the rain. However, the blazer has been useless in the snow, even in 4 LO. I also had 2 with nails in them and I don't really want to drive 4 hours to the beach with plugged tires. So I have a set of showing up on Tuesday. I was going to get Yokohama Geolanders but the price went up $30 a tire right before I ordered them. I have never run Falken tires before but these got great reviews.
