Installed a 7" touchscreen Double Din last night. Took me a while. Since they don't make DD dash kits of the 97s I had to hack and modify the single din dash kit I had previously.
The wiring and actually install only takes about 20 minutes. But cutting the back of the dash so the head unit slides in far enough is the tricky
Part. The dash harness is right behind the part you need to cut out so I have to be extremely careful. What I did was scores it with a box cutter and used needle nose pliers to break it of clean and then sanded the sharp edges smooth. I will do a detailed write up as to how imdid this sometime this week so you can see it in more tail but I think it turned out nice. The only downside is that you can change CDs while driving since the shifter is in the way in the Drive position. But I'm not too worried about that since I either have my phone connected via USB or a 16gb Scandisk.

Sweet truck man, I just got a 98 and am going for the same look. Ever think of a safari rack also? Funny one of the first things I did was mod the front air dam cuz it was cracked. Then I also removed some of the chrome. And yes, have thinking of painting the bumper and grill black. I like the bedliner idea though

Hey about the bull bar thing.. If you get the one that mounts to the frame you cant just drill new holes. It actually attaches to the body mount bracket that is welded to the frame. The ones on the 98+ blazers stick out a little farther and already have holes drilled into them. Ours dont stick out quite as far.

But your in luck.. There is a how-to on the subject that was recently published by yours truly. Here it is: How-To: 95-97 Bull Bar

I removed all the same molding you removed, big like! Except like you said, getting the glue off sucked. It wasnt untill I had a blister on my thunb that I thought of using a blow dryer, which helped tons

I used a kerosene heater as I didn't have a hair dryer or heat gun handy... Then some goo gone to get the residue off..but yes...blisters galore...

My lift shackles are pissing me off right now....the bolts on the passenger side are seized in the bushings and won't budge...even after being soaked in entreating oil for two days....going to see if i can find an impact driver to get them out

Finally got around to shackles....gah they were seized bad...had to cut the passenger side stocker off in order to get to the bushing to inject penetrating oil into it...covered it inside aid out with oil for two days and still had to use an air hammer to get the bolt out...but I finally got it..what should have taken an hour took a week...
