sounds sweet, mine leaks a small amount of antifreeze from the intake gasket like they all do. its just not enough to justify rebuilding the engine. especially considering all the other crap she needs but one of these days i will be doing a list like that when i get the time....and the money lol

You don't need to rebuild the engine to do the intake gaskets.

I found out I can't use my 93 block as a spare engine. The crankshaft for the obdII cranks sensors is machined 0.1" longer than the OBDI's. So, I'll have to rebuild stock and sell the 93 to get a correct block..

My car has 245K miles on it. I'm doing the intake because the carbon build up is ridiculous. It wouldn't hurt to do the gaskets. I could understand if you had to have the top end rebuilt, then it would be pointless not to touch the crankcase. But, if I were you I would take care of the coolant issue, before it may start mixing with oil off the intake side man.

Also, issue here. There is a roaring sound from the tranny while in park or sitting at a redlight. I thought it was the bad u-joints.. but being it does it in park, I'm a little worried. Any ideas on what this could be?

I'll see what she does after new mounts, fluid, and filter.. but the fluid looks fresh, no leaks, may be a little further than that. I'm looking at getting a spare tranny to build anyways, but was waiting until I could put an engine with it.

Thanks for the advice Red9Beard4, its been doing this for years and the oil never looks discolored or anything. And its very rare that i need to top off the coolant. Plus these days i don't have much time to take it off the road for a few days to do something like that, or the money lol. But its on the list.

I would have never guessed that the engine blocks were different between the OBDI and OBD1.5. Well at least with your trans your fluid looks fresh. when my 3-4 clutch band went in my old trans i replaced in May, my fluid was black. i do think it would be fun to buy a spare tranny and rebuild it with upgraded parts since these 4L60E's are such a gremlin. But like i said, my wallet wouldn't agree to that

No problem. Money has been a pretty tight issue with me lately. I've had to hustle pretty hard on side work. Yeah, I hate the 4l60e's.. so much.

I was curious as to what the over all difference was between the different gen 4.3's. As we know, 95 was the Blazers' bastard year. I happen to own a 95, and I can rep for that.

Evidently there are numerous amounts. Lightweight and heavy rotating assemblies, balance and non-balance split years, timing covers, strut bosses, lifter retainers, Romulus vs Tonawanda made blocks, etc. Here's the link I found.

If any of you live in Georgia or Florida you know about this hurricane that's coming through. Well, all this rain has brought a lot of clay roads to bog pits in South Ga.

So, I'm going to do a little riding tonight after work, get some pictures hopefully, and let you guys know how she performs with the street tread, lol.

yeh i will definitely agree that the 95 had a ton of problems, but so does every other car its first year. just some more than others....cough....cough...blazer. one of my biggest complaints is the brakes. not only are they rear drums but the brakes up front are so underpowered to stop this car. gm must have noticed this too because when the 98 came out they had 4 wheel disc brakes. i think the transmission design was changed too since the first one was so crappy. i didn't really think of the little differences between parts on the car. sounds cool. Make sure to post pics of your blazer in that weather!

Unfortunately the rain was so crazy last night I couldn't get any pics. But, it was a slip and slide! Lol. There was a point of where I had half the passenger rear tire off the ditch line, thankfully had it in 4 hi and she throttled out just fine. Stoked to see how it does on A/T's or M/T's. Oh yeah, I definitely felt the under powered brakes last night as well. Probably going to play in the aftermath today though.

yeh i saw some videos on the news and stuff, its pretty brutal out there. Tearing up roads and stuff. And the brakes when its as wet as that dont even bother lol. But as i always say obviously "safety before pictures" as tough as that can be for me lol. but here is your oppertunity to get her all muddy and dirty and not get frowned at by other people
