Something of interest perhaps - http://sblazer.com/sta-kit_order.html It just might help your visibility out the rear windshield

nj4x4blaze Directed me to this thread as I had asked about possibly mounting a swing arm spare tire mount on the back of my 96 4dr LT (you can see it here) https://blazerforum.com/forum/new-member-area-4/american-norway-50050/

A curiousity, it doesn't look like you can open the rear window hatch without first swinging the tire carrier out? Also what one did you use and does it matter? I couldn't easily find your how-to on it if you have posted it yet

Warmest Regards,
Mea (yeah a girl and she drives and fixes her own )

with your blazer mounting the carrier will be easier than mine. because your blazer doesn't have the hatch handle in the middle of the trunk door. you can get the latch mount that doesn't have the corner on the bottom cut out. That tire re-locator seems like a pretty good idea other than my license plate is pretty close to getting covered by the rear tire already and if I lower it I may run into trouble with the local police

DO you have any suggestions? (specific model?) I should look for? as far as the spare tire carrier goes. I noticed the cut out bottom you were talking about on the website link I gave you. If push comes to shove Thule makes an "Explorer or Expedition" pack that allows you to mount your spare tire to the luggage rack just a random side thought. PA plates... yeah they would be sticklers mainly the locals always being worse than the staties

I got my rack off of another blazer a Oldsmobile Bravada to be exact. I'm unaware of any after market racks that will work. As long as you get a rack from a second generation blazer it will fit on yours (95 or newer). Not sure how available the blazer tire racks are in Norway..

Ah great so anything from a second Gen. Its ok even if I cannot find one in Norway there is a place here called Phoenix US Cars (http://www.phoenixuscars.no/index.php?lang=nb-NO for the curious) they'll pull parts in the states and bring em over, for a fee ofcourse. However I'll be more than likely to check the local yards considering blazers are rather popular here it shouldn't be too difficult to find at least one Many thanks for all your help!

By swing arm spare tire, do you mean by something like this? http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...0524001455.png
it opens up on the right side

now, i had warnings about those by friends of mine. first of all, something that i do have. after a while, the location where your windows lock, with the arm, the lock will start to make noise, not noticable at first, it can become a carnage to hear on bumby roads (nothing Jigoloo can't fix...temporarly)

Now i also had warning about possible damage caused. Like where the arms are bolt in on the side of the truck. iv seen a jimmy with the same arm as mine, eventually bend as little bit, making the top botls pulling the body work out a bit, and the lower bolts peircing right trough. alsmost as if the spare tire arm is too heavy for the truck to hold it on long term.

ibv also seen damaged on the gate, but that i beleive thats the user who just kept closing his tire arm way to hard and banging it everytime. not sure thou. Il try to get some pick of those damage later

I've forgot to latch mine several times and it slammed out my body is holding strong. I can stand on it when its swung out. If you do it right you shouldn't have to worry about anything rattling unless one of the bolts gets loose and then you can just tighten it back up again

the damage i saw where pretty convincing, its on long term uses thou, wont happen right away :P

Im not sure if that jimmy had the arm added by its driver. i know factory builds put a metal sheet in the body to make sure it holds. rust won't help the case

you mean putting the rack on the back? I don't have any pics of that... next time I'm messing around in the back I'll pull the carpet back and take pics of where I mounted the bolts
