Well, got some more painting done today. I also got some clearcoat on the frame. It's looking mighty fine.

Here's the rear fork in black. It came out really well, and I'm excited to get it on the frame.

This is the front fork also in black. Also came out looking really good. I'm impressed.

And finally, here is the final result of 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clearcoat.

Next, I'll be working on the front springs (yes, there are front springs), wheels, and the front fender.

Also on the list, rework the throttle/handlebar assembly, make a new seat, and then finish up the engine. I'm saving the engine for last. That seems like it's going to be the hard part.

having stripped a modern "pocket bike" apart, they're made really similar... except this mini bike has a suspension and probably doesn't rattle your ******* off.

I'm keeping an eye on this one... 35 hp would be ridiculously fast and suicide... go for 15 IMO

wow, great work so far. Cool build!

Seems like they found one of these on "American Pickers", and IIRC they bought it for like $150 (restorable condition) and thought it was valued around $300 as-is. I betcha you could get $500 for it when done, but something tells me you aren't doing this to sell!

I think if I were to rebuild it like I want, then I think I would be able to sell it for over $400, but because of lack of funds, I'm having to cut corners (unfortunately), using paint I already have, reusing rusty bolts and washers, and not using a sand blaster.

Eh, don't cut corners on the stuff you'll see every day! Washers are pennies, and you can "restore" bolts...

First, soak the bolts in WD-40 or similar, then use a metal brush to brush off the rust. Then, clean with detergent, then mineral spirits. Use a piece of cardboard, poke x-shaped holes in it, and push the bolts thru. This will hold them so you can put a very very light coat of silver or aluminum colored paint. After you've done your final bolting, you can use a small brush to touch up the paint.

$20 max to do this

Here you go Cav:

I got it together (only to realize that I made a huge mistake putting the bolt on for the steering column, because the handlebars need to be on too), and it's looking good.

The front struts are looking pretty good. I like it a lot.

That was a couple of days ago that this happened. I have been a little busy and haven't been making a lot of progress. I will be getting the wheels cleaned up, as well as getting a seat made. I am heavily procrastinating on the motor. I just don't want to do it. lol. Anyone wanna do it for me?
