You said that earlier t-cases have a 1.25" chain and later had a 1". Do you know the cut off year. I did the same ORD kit with my 99 and used full widths from a 79 ford. All i got left is to put the t-case back together but I'm waiting on a new chain and some seals. Now i'm worried if I got the right chain (didn't know they ran a wider one).

I thought all the NP23xC transfer cases had the wide chain. I could be wrong, but every one I've opened up has been wide...

The last year of the 1.25" chain in a 233C was 97, after that they switched to 1" unless the case was stamped as 'HD' (which I've yet to actually see in a 98+). I've read that all year 231C's are 1.25", but I've never had one apart before.

If your 99 is a 233 id be willing to bet it has the small chain and 3 planet gear reduction...

Edit: you probably don't need it, but there's some good info on the yoke swap here.

That's good. I don't think anyone changed the t-case, someone swapped my engine with a newer one before I got it so I ran into timing chain issues, but the trans/t-case was left alone. I got the output shaft from a TJ which runs the 1" chain and got an upgraded chain to hopefully last longer without stretching.

Thanks for the link too. I like to see how other people have been doing this swap even though I'm almost done, just adds to the piece of mind that I'm doing something right.

BTW you have a nice clean truck, looks very well and cleanly done. I kinda wish I would of stuck with narrow axles instead of full width, but I'm actually pretty happy with how its turning out.

Glad I could help... thanks for the compliments too.

I'm thinking about it. Once I got her back on the road I think I'm gonna make one up for mine too. Shes not as clean (rust at the wheel wells and fuel neck) but I still like how its turning out.

You wouldn't happen to live near the Andover area would you? I swear I have seen that Blazer before. I live in NY at the moment but I lived in Andover for about 6 months.

Awesome truck by the way. Wish I had the skill, time, and money to do that to mine.

Well guys I haven't been around much lately, but i figured id give a small update.

I am still alive and still have the truck... lol. I realized the other day that Ive put over 10K miles on it since the swap two years ago.

recently I bought a set of Skyjacker M95 shocks F/R. The fronts are much longer then what i was previously running (now 11" travel - 28" extended). The f250 shocks up front were too short and killing droop travel when flexed. They ride much better then the cheapo Gabriels. All the shocks i ever had in the rear were all valved way to stiff compared to these. Ride is no Caddy, but it's the best its ever been.

I also have had it in the woods a few times this spring and she's done well. I honestly haven't had any time or money to continue building the D44... but im still slowly buying parts for it, It will happen... just not sure exactly when. The next big purchase will be a rear axle... Im still bouncing around the idea of skipping the D44 rear & finding a Cab and Chassis 14 bolt. It will be way more axle then ill probably ever need... but Id love the cool factor of having it. I also love me some H2's wheels, and id get to run them with the 8 lug swap. Hmmmm

here are some pics for anyone still watching...
