My 93 4x4 project "Skinny Wallet"
OK, todays update. Had a box sitting inside my gate when I got home...

The guy I dealt with at www.digitaldashsolutions.com was a really cool dude with a really strong american accent (They are located in Virginia USA) He prolly thought I had a funny accent too. I have to ship back my old dash the cheapest way possible to him, but Im gonna throw in a can of Tim Hortons coffee for my new american friend to make in the coffee room at their shop, I doubt they have had it, and only seen it on canadian TV. There is enough room for it in the box. Nice guys. Deal with them if you need to for sure!
Ill be swapping out the dash this weekend to get that core in the mail so I dont get charged a core after 30 days... Cant wait to snap you all a photo of a 1993 with 000000km on the dash!
I also ordered some more body parts today, I dont know the cost yet till I go pick em up tomorrow.
82-90 - Headlight bezzles L & R
82-90 - Radiatior support
1st gen - both front fenders
I might have to get a diff battery tray or something Ill have to look at the parts catalougs and compare the differences between the early and late gen front ends...
Im changing back to the early 1st gen front end because I bought...
$63.77 - 1982-1990 CHEVY/GMC S10 BLAZER S15 JIMMY BILLET GRILLE - eBay (item 280747987950 end time Oct-06-11 18:49:52 PDT)
The billet grill for the 93-94 models looks stupid, and I would have to have chrome around the headlights which is a NO-NO... So I have to swap it all back to the early gen style to be able to paint the headlight bezzles and have a one piece billet... I was considering a phantom billet grill for 93, but its still retarded expensive... I can change to an early 1gen look completely for less, and it looks better... So thats what Im doing.
What the heck should I do with my expensive SS emblem now though?
Also, Mods reading this... Can you change my SKINNY WALLET to Project OHSOFLY instead... Since leaving that woman my wallet got alot fatter? Please.
Im also thinking of making diamond plate skid plates... Since I burned mine up...

$9.00 - 82-90 S-series H/L door black left
$10.00 - 82-90 S-series H/L door black right (They are the same, dont know why one was a buck more)
$80.00 - 82-90 S-series rad support w/ air
$75.00 x2 - 82-94 S-series fender w/o antenna hole!! left + right
Last time I bought a new grill from these guys it seemed to be puffier than the one I took off and I didnt like it, also the holes for the emblem werent perfect and requiered trimming to get it to sit straight... This time I told the chick I wanted the sleekest looking ones, NOT the puffy ones, and she found the ones I wanted!!
I think Ill make a short video of me sawzalling the brand new fenders! I just know the front is going to be EXTREME trimming to not rub.

The sleeker headlight bezzles, or doors, or whatever you call them. Them seem to be about the same texture, size and hardness as the factory stuff, thats awesome for nineteen bucks!

New rad support to allow me to mount the older style grill. I will also have to modify the holes to allow for the HID lights to fit, and Im gonna open up the big holes a little to expose the whole radiator, not 80% of it.

Now, to get it to run first so I can turn it around in the garage...

Well I got some more stuff coming in the mail. There was another thread on taillight tinting, and I think mine are too dark too... So without losing the dark look, but losing the illegality, I got a set of these:
$45.99 - http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...CTPNL:LNLK:ITM
I think the JDM means they have orange signal lights in them, Im not sure though and didnt understand to sellers 'engrish' reply to me... So Ill just wait and see what they do in fact look like. If I dont like them, Ill kijiji them in my area for my 45 bucks back, no loss.
I also got these for my new front end, to also scrap the tinted lights that are currently on it.
$32.95 - http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...CTPNL:LNLK:ITM
And I spent about 50 bucks on spare LED bulbs and various colors so I can choose a color combo for all my lights that I like, or whatever. Some look brighter than others, Ill show em off when they come.
Didnt actually do a think to the truck this weekend though

UPS had a package for me yesterday. In it was my billet grills.
No wonder it was so cheap, the corner is bent, whether that happened in shipping or thats why it was cheap, no biggie, I can bend it back straight.

Today is my little nephews Bday, so Ill be starting the front end changeover this afternoon I think.

Yeah I thought it was a cheaper alternative, and kind of a different mod at the same time. I dont recall seeing a latemodel first gen look like an earlymodel yet. Im sure it has happened. So I guess now another enthusiast may wonder whether its an 82-90 with a vortec swap, or a 91-94 with a frontend swap...
As for the body parts, my little brother was a salesguy at a jobber parts place and has friends there still so we get good deals. SS or Cowl hood can be had for about 220 bucks cash and carry. Thats also on the list, the SS that is, then I could try and make some kinda ram air thing for the front facing throttlebody... just a thought.
Dad welded my body lift shift bar extention for me. Instructions say to cut the vertical section and weld it in the gap, but dad just welded it onto the end and make a new flat spot down the on side with a grinder. Its part of the 3" BL kit. Looks great, I would have butchered it as Im a poopy welder. Now to install it tomorrow.

Two cans of "Great Stuff" expanding foam insulation were used in this task. I filled in the edges of the fenders where I am going to chop them off, this will make the cuts much smoother, and Ill just undercoat the crap out of the remaining stuff thats visible. I also filled in the holes on the rear fenders at the same time. I figure it will keep out crap from getting in there too.
Before:

After:

I also started painting the front bumper, and front skidplate that I didnt burn up with a few coats of Rocker Panel coating. Looks nice, the front parts will be getting many coats, so Ill do another 2 cans on these parts, and the headlight bezzles. I will not be painting the outside of the fenders till springtime when the whole truck gets done. Just for now, and for inspection I will be cleaning up the wheelwells and frame and stuff.

And just cause I got the photo, this beauty belongs to a customer on my daily route. It has posi, and a tuned 6.0L from a fullsize truck and automatic transmission. The owner says it is hell on wheels and the fastest thing around. Im gonna try and get him to show me it another time, hes not the friendliest guy. He said 10G and it could be mine. No it was not an Xtreme, and its a Xenon bodykit, the front looks kinda stupid and has too many foglight holes.

Im still looking for the right material for my fender flares. I need some kinda rubber mat or belting that I can cut to the shapes I need. I think a 4 foot square would allow me to make the 4 shapes I need. I can also buy 12 inche belting, but its like 12 bucks a foot at the tractor dealership, I want like 4 feet each wheelwell... Too pricey. Im working on getting scrap peices from some customers, but the 12"x4ft x 4 peices that I want is quite large for scrap, but those guys like me so maybe they will come through with some extra bits. I may just cut up some shop floormats that can be had, and will work just great for what I need them for. They just have to be stiff, and not too thick...

I'd snag a hood for that price. I did the shifter rod the same way. Doesn't make any sense why you wouldn't just add it to the bottom. Dunno if you've cut the fenders yet or not, but the "pie" cut out worked well for me. Hanr3 had pics on here, but I can't find them anymore.
If I had to estimate, I have taken a 'slice' of pizza about 10inches high, and 2 inches wide from each corner of the rear wheelwells. Im going to take chunks about the same size out of the front. I figure if these new tires are 4 inches more diameter, then taking 4 inches off the wheelwells should suffice.
No mail today. Expecting taillights and a whackload of LED bulbs to try out and see what colors I like. Lovin Ebay.

My new taillights for it showed up, they are OK. I think I might get a diff set sometime anyways till I get the ones I like, but whatever.
All those LED lights came too, and there is still some waiting to come in. So I have lots of combos to choose from, and as many for my new ride.
Its getting cold here now, and the snow will be blowing in no time, so the work on the blazer is going to come to a standstill since I dont have a heated garage. It would seem that the blazer is a total project now instead of a 'get something going before winter' vehicle... Thats OK, a man needs a project.
I am also expecting a baby in the beginning of April, we find out on the 15th what its sex is. Names will be either:
Richard Robert
Velda Vonne
In the meantime, I went and bought myself THIS so that I have something to run around in. Yeah its as nice to drive as you think! I love it.

So anyways, Ill update only when questions are asked, and when I get some new parts to add to the stockpile. I have moved all the new fenders and painted bumpers and stuff into the garage and packed away for the winter. OhSoFLY wont be able to try out the new shoes until next summer I guess.

OK, I got a few more things. The stickers I ordered online have mostly showed up. The BLAZER ones will be stencils for redoing the wheels, I had to get 2 sheets cause I need five to do five wheels. The large ones will be extras, maybe when she gets paint they will be stencils too. The punisher skulls are carbon fibre, and the guy threw in a set in blue chrome too. One carbon one for the blazer, and one for my work truck where truckers put their names... The 4-Play ones are for the blazer. Not sure where they are gonna go.

Looks like I gotta put in some sway bar bushings too. I think I have a set around here somewhere for it too, I should look back in my thread and see if I did get them so I dont waste time looking for them

Here she is sitting at factory height.

Frame clearance is 11+1/4 inches from frame to ground on all corners except the one with the low tire
It should be 14+1/4 when done on the back, and 13+1/4 on the front.

And the fender clearance is 31 + 1/4 all around. When done it should be 37+1/4 rear, and 36+1/4 front.

Also going to remove the 2 front fenders that are rotten, all the fender flares will be scrapped for a fatter set (where can I get cool ones with the rivet edge look?) and I will be grinding out the corners to fit the larger tires. 35's if they will fit, or 33's if they wont.
