The gastank is covered in this greasy yellow goop, Im just gonna put it in, if the old one lasted 17 years and hadnt leaked or gotten rusty inside, Im sure this one will. I cleaned and used some boxline to coat the topside of it, and I will do the bottom side with undercoating once its hanging up under the truck. The goo comes off the new thank pretty easy with brake cleaner and a rag, its probably leftover flux from soldering the tank halves together.

And yet some more toys from craigslist.ca... The dude just delivered it to me.

$250.00 got me the following.

(New) Alpine CDA-9884 - CD player, iPod, MP3, and whatever else I will have to read instructions about later. Aparently this is like 2009's top of the line stuff, so Im happy, and it apears to be barely used, not really a single scratch on the screen. The wires have been installed, and he put a free iPod cable in the package with it for me that is about 12ft long, the decks dont come with those. I dont own an iPod or iPhone, but my kid brother does, so we can listen to his garbage when hes in the rig.

(New) Alpine KTX-H100 - some gizmo to adjust the sound with my laptop, he gave me this with the 2 other peices as a freebie, he says its an add on for this and a few other decks. I have no idea at this time what it does, in the box is a cable to connect my laptop, some other wires, and a dvd to install some stuff on the laptop I think. Cool bonus I figure. A friend was like "Whoa can I use that to set up my car?" cause he has the module installed in his caddy that this hooks up to. so I guess its something good cause he has a killer system.
EDIT: OK, so this thing requires me to buy a module for it to be used, but it is like that huge soundboard that a music producer has, but on my computer... The module allows the settings to be saved and used, and it also allows the computer interface. Pretty neat freebie.

Poenix Gold Professional Line Driver - I need this to pump my signal voltage as I have running 2 amps.

I am really enjoying writing this thread. As I review it later I can see just how I am NOT following my original plans... That change came about when I became single again and moved back to my native turf. I sure miss her kids though, her oldest daughter would have had fun working on the truck with me, and I would have cherished teaching her about stereo systems She had helped me on the S10 alot, she did the intake gaskets and tune up on it while I watched over and put the final tighten on everything, and we built a utility trailer too. She could tell you what all the top end parts are and what they do and she was only 10, I hope she keeps on learning. It seems that the toys are taking precidence over the front end. The front end is not bad, it could just use the swaybar bushings. Im going to find something else to drive so I can devote more time to this truck and leave it on stands. Im getting tired of jacking it up evertime I need to do something else.

OK, the Alpine deck is in, and ALL the wires to come off it are run, so no more opening up the dash, but I cannot for the life of me get it to slide all the way in and lock, I need to find a mount kit that sticks it out about another half inch or more.

Got some more new parts to finish off my brake parts pile:
$29.79 - 265-2177 - Sway bar bushing kit for 32MM or 1.250"
$77.79 x 2 - 552177 - NAPA Ultra Premium ceramic slotted brake rotors
$61.99 x 2 - 440-1653 - Stock replacement brake drums.

Grabbed some more body parts that will be going on too:
$43.49 - 82-94 S series front bumper without strip front
$17.66 - 82-94 S series valence without fog lights
$27.25 - 91-93 S series grille with mesh, matte finish

I think i will paint the grille with my boxliner stuff, and first paint the mesh inside the color i want to have the final body color, probably dark green still but with some shine. Got my work cut out for me this next weekend it seems. I also think that a Blazerforum.com decal would look good on that air dam, who makes those? Ill use one as a stencil when Im painting and peel it out when the paints wet.

And the last peice of the IMPRINT sound system, I was unable to find it used, so I had to fork out for a new one. Also some Pilot halfmoon foglights that will be fitted somehow on the front when I get that far.

$218.40 - Alpine KTX199EQ - Imprint sound control module and 2x 90 degree RCA adapters for behind the deck.
$31.48 - Pilot fog lights, and a power distribution block for the amps..

Ordered another NEW item for the truck. The bowtie on the grill, there was no decent ones at the junkyard, and the ones that the body supply place sell I did not like. So I went to the local dealership parts department and the guy convinced me to get the one for a 350 or 454SS pickup of the same era. Its black in the center with a red outline. I think that will look good. Hes gonna call me when its in and I can come over and see if it fits my grill nicely, if it does it costs me $68 plus tax so I can mount it on my grill that was half that price, if I dont like it I dont have to pay the restocking fee and he can get me a different one.

My dad also gave me a present that he was given by the cops at a city police town hall meeting concerning the AUTO THEFT TASK FORCE

Oh an MAN OH MAN are those Alpine toys ever cool. The "freebie" that came with the deck did not have a module, it was just the connectivity kit for the module. The module that I bought comes with a connectivity kit, so I gave the first one to my friend who has an imprint module in his car, and no connectivity kit. All worked out well in the end. So the IMPRINT is neat stuff, it listens to the system and sets up the MultiEQ in true 3D mode cause it can add delay and stuff to the speakers and fix the imaging for different speaker positions. I have not hooked it up yet, but its the ultimate in soundstage imaging aparently... Cant wait to try it out. Might be building an amp rack this weekend with my dad if its nice out and hes not busy.

thats a great low budget project truck. i work in a shop, so i have the equipment to do my own power steering flushes and coolant flushes, but how did you do your own flushes with your amsoil products? or did you get them done at a shop

Yeah its not so low budget anymore. Im having fun now. Did all the fluids myself except the trans, I knew a guy with a machine back in BC.

Decided my final paint color will be completely boxliner textured black, with about a 10inch high gunmetal color stripe down the sides from headlight to taillight and across the tailgate, and Ill get these wheels refinished in gunmetal to match. That will be the last things of course, but thats what I see in my mind now.

Im thinking of adding some cool looking louvres to the hood too. And I want to change the factory bumper signal lights to something more modern looking from another vehicle but the same shape, the guys at the body parts place should be able to help with that. Im on the hunt for an aftermarket steering wheel too.

Anyone know approx what it costs to redo the leather on 2 seats and add inner folding armrests to them since I scrapped the console? Ive never had upholstry done. If its more than 500 bucks Ill try and find some Yukon buckets in grey leather someday.

Too crappy out to do anything this weekend, plus i had some other stuff to do. Dad and I will be fabbing up the amp rack next weekend, I was at him house this weekend and we designed the rack and built mock up parts from cardboard. We are building a wood box that is similar to the tire tool cover on the opposite side of the rear. Both amps will mount vertical inside this box, and the cover will be removable. There will be mesh covers over the holes so you can see the amps through them in the dark, but in daylight the black mesh hides them. All my wires will fit behind the box and be hidden. The box will be attached to the floor with lagbolts and wont move. This will make the sub box hooked up to speaker wires only, so camping out in the back is a snap I can just take the box out. I dont think I will be having any heat issues with the amps in the box, if there is I will hook up a 12V exhaust fan from a computer to the inside of the box that turns on with the amps. We will try and find some grey carpeting this week that matches my interior to cover the amp box in. I really want to use MDF, but dad figues that this plywood he has with 1x1 on the inside like walls in a house are made is better...? Hes the master carpenter, I will grab a sheet of 1/2 MDF to take with my anyways cause I really think that the MDF will be better and not vibrate. Its more solid and there is a reason all the stereo guys use it in cars and not plywood...

Dad gave me a club he got given by the police when he attended some town hall meeting or something, he has a brand new theft proof car so he donated it to the Blaze.

I grabbed a vinyl decal at the flea market for the backwindow, its about the size of my hand. The girls dont own up to it publically, but they all love the 2/1 combo! THE SHOCKER! There was also these 2 little devils pulling a 69er but the gal only had them in pink, so I requested a gunmetal copy for another weekend.

Oh and I also caught a hell of a rock crack this weekend, so I have to ask my homies at Independant Glass if they can hook me up with a new window again. It wont be more than 125.00. They sold me and installed a new shield into my old Toyota 4Runner for 150.00 last year before I moved to BC. I also had a friend order me the amp booster pack for my Alpine deck, it pumps the deck from 18Wx4 to a true 50Wx4 of deckpower. Its for sale for 120.00 on the alpine website, my friend figures I can have it for around half to 60% of that!! Will find out this week. I am also on the hunt for clear marker lights that I can tint black, but then have white lights inside them, I want all this orange on the front gone!

My 454SS bowtie is not in yet... However I got a couple more parts, I think I have all the hardware I need now. My dad and I are tackling the stereo tomorrow at his house since he has the woodshop tools and I have the knowhow thats transportable. I will totally be taking photos to add in here as we chug along. All I can say is I love dads idea for mounting the amps, its kickass and all the credit will be going to him.

Grabbed another peice today to compliment the rest of my Alpine lineup. This bad boy pumps my head unit output from 18x4RMS to 45x4RMS. The wires are about a meter long, so it will be getting mounted under the console with the line driver and the IMPRINT module. I think Ill make a hole and window in the console floor so that I can move a carpet insert and see the gear underneath...?
$124.00 - Alpine KTP445 - Head Unit Powerpack for all 2006+ Alpine head units

Also grabbed some of the wiring bits that I needed that I was unable to find anywhere cheaper. I think I have it all nailed down now.
$30.00 - Wiring bits - 4x 8ga fork connectors for amp +/- connections, 4x 4ga ring connectors for capacitor, 8ft of 8ga wire from dist block to amps and for amp grounds.

So far its around 400 bucks to make the truck rock... And another 400 to make it sound like you are actually there! The IMPRINT is going to make all the difference in the world dudes.
