My 93 4x4 project "Skinny Wallet"
Yes Danny Way did jump the great wall too, I see there is a skater in you too MTopper!
Every bolt came undone nicely except that shock bolt. Had to cut it out with the grinder and did a little butchering on the shock tower - so I had to go borrow dads welder. The control arm bushings came out with great difficulty, but thanks to the vice that came with the garage, I was able to put some torque on the tool.
$20.00 Axle nut socket at Candian tire store. 26MM fits like a glove.

EDIT
OK, so right front side is done and put back together just needs the brakes changed, did not have to weld the hold in the shock tower as I was able to shape 2 large steel washers to fit the motor side of the enlarged hole and be solid like new. I can almost put a dime though that hole. And I welded up that nice gash that was made having to cut the damn shock off the RF of this thing.

Moved to the back. Found my right side Ubolts very loose to where I could rattle the parts around. Went to tighten them up and snapped off the bolts. Glad that happened in my garage instead of on a trail. Got my mother to give me a lift to the nut and bolt place and got:
$11.71- New grade 8 bolts and nut for all the shocks
$25.87 - Had new Ubolts x4 bent and got the nuts for them.
Got home and went to undo the drivers side shock and broke the bolt on the lower mount, dammit. Gotta prepay for special order stuff at the dealer, so now to find my way over there. Thinking about trying the junkyard but the same things going to happen when I go to remove that one too, also Iwas unerm truck on stands using my leg as a level to snap these tings off, there is NO FRIGGIN WAY I am goin to get under a blazer in the junkyard thas sitting up on stacked up old rims and torque on stuff. My mom doesnt konw my BF password to be able to tell you all of the stupid redneck thing I did to kill myself. So Ill just order new. Gonna go check out some websites too and maybe get them from there.
Go to undo the Ubolts on the drivers side, and one has been replaced before cause its huge, and trying to undo the stock on broke my deep socket. First time in my life the rear has given me more grief than the front...
Ive already got the drivers front loosened so I know there wont be any surprises there. Now Im just in no hurry to get it done as the truck isnt going anywhere until those mount plates come to me.
Good news is that at least I will be able to ace an inspection to get my cool licence plates again!!!

Why thanks. I am quite the eccentric fellow if you were to ask my coworkers and friends. Quite the arsehole if you ask my ex girlfriends. I enjoy sharing my worklog, and I even re-read it once in a while and edit old posts LOL.
Its a miserable rainy day today, so I will not be skating over to the dealer and prepaying my brackets... If I can get someone with a credit card to come over Ill give them cash and get them from LMC truck for a little less (maybe not once shipping is added on)
To add to the future plans. I intend to lift my utility trailer and paint it to match the truck... Im also on the lookout for a cheap beaten up golf cart to mod and restore too. It will also match the truck and trailer. I would love a small camper trailer that I could paint to match as well. My friend has a paint booth in his garage as he is an airbrush guy in his spare time. So it will cost me beer and paint and cleanup to get my stuff sprayed.

not bad... i used to skate a little when i was a kid. simple stuff though, never went to the skateparks. just the typical urban skater. I am now to "old" to pick it back up haha, but roller blades, i'm all over it
Got my mommy to gimme a lift over to the dealer. Could have got these on LMC for around $25 each plus shipping 10 pounds to canada. Would have cost about the same.
$124.32 - Left and Right rear shock/spring brackets (GM part # 15957231 + 32) - GM pays the shipping.
Should be in by next Tuesday to Thursday. 5-7 work days from now.
Now time to work on that curb ollie and my golf swing.
I weighed 232 pounds in my workboots last night, Ill see how much I lose in the next week...

Those rear lower shock mounts seem to always brake no matter what you do. I've had it happen 3 times, got lucky once. Luckily I was able to get new shock mount bolts/pins from a spring shop and weld them on, back on the road for $15.
That would have been nice. Im going to make sure I lube them up real good with cop-r-coat. The truck is not going to get around much now. By the time these perches are in I may have another 500 blazer and this one will indergo more major surgery.
Got a scrap part from work last night. Imagine this. I take the (6 inch I think) hockey stick stack peice I have that came off one of our highway tractors, and split it down the middle. Then my buddy and I weld them onto the hood so its like scoops that go up and to the side and cut the hood open under them so i blows all the heat out the back up my windhield, and lets cool air in the front. I think it will look sick and custom and like some mean nostrils.
The waiting game begins. Time to search out some tires maybe from the local buy/sell ads

So if I grab the 4x4 powertrain out of about a 93 full size - 5.7, 700R4 (not sure) and T-case, can I use all this stuff, or should I stick with my current trans and Tcase cause the V8 and V6 have the same pattern on the engine backside...? Or are they the same trans and Tcase as full sizes.? I think my trans is on the way out cause it hits hard into second gear if you giv'er and I can almost feel a shiver in overdrive, so a new one may be on the agenda. Maybe a new motor too?
I doubt this baby is going to see the road again for a while. Its actually [retty easy getting around with no car again. That path on my way to work kicks ***, its like going 4 blocks without having to step off the board! It rocks. I may just cancel my insurance for the winter if this other blazer 100km away doesnt pan out. Its pretty easy to bum a ride to work, and I can take the company taxi home everyday too.
Hope my stuff shows up on thursday cause I want to pull the trailer full of pallets out for one last campout on the river this season. Ever see 14 shipping pallets go up at once? I will get some photos for sure. Its like50 foot high flames and lights up the night.
