My small 96 Blazer build
Been crazy busy with work lately so haven't had time to update much. I got my gears installed and put about 35 miles on it but I've got some noise on the coast side so I need some adjustment. The backlash is about perfect all around at .008 and I think the pattern looks good but maybe it's shallow? Sorry my pic of the coast side didn't load to PB I guess. It's a little low on the toe but has good contact and from what I've read a little low is semi normal but maybe I'm wrong lol!

I also picked this up for $40 off CL so I can build it into my rear bumper. Yes I should have started this way but I couldn't find a hitch under a $100 that would work until now so I guess I've got work to do!

And not sure if anyone cares but the guy had a nice little SS s10

Sorry the pic sucks I snapped it as I was pulling out of his driveway.

Yeah I'll take some out. .003-.012 is acceptable with .005-.008 being ideal so I'll move the carrier over and get the pinion in a bit deeper since I've got a bit of wiggle room with my backlash.
I had a howl when I let off the gas in my Grand Marquis diff once, after swapping a pinion seal - just a few inch-pounds more torque on the pinion nut, and all was well. YMMV since you've had the gears out however. Definitely looks like it could go a couple thou deeper.
Got a good bit done on my bumper today. Rear crossmember cut out and gone. Sorry for the crap pics!

Cut the ends off the receiver and shortened it a tad to fit inside the frame rails

Cut what I guess is a reinforcement ring off the receiver it will go back on later.

After a whole lot of measurements and test fits I drilled some holes.

Then I cut out the center for the receiver to slide thru. Now you see why I cut off the ring

And then I did a whole lot that I didn't take pics of and this is where I ended the day.

Just have to do a bit more welding and get some reinforcement built into the frame for when it's bolted on and I will be done till I add some led reverse lights later on. I think it looks a lot better and beefier now.
