Yea, RCV is an axle shaft brand. They utilize chromoly shafts, like many other brands. But, instead of a U joint, they use a CV (constant velocity) joint. This eliminates bind while turning under throttle. The U joint yokes bind on regular axle shafts, causing even chromoly shafts to break under load. RCV does away with that. They are not cheap, but are worth it.

I went with the D44 for various reasons. I have an F250 heavy wall 44, it is high pinion. Already had it. Then, I like the clearance I get with it. Also, up here in Alaska, we don't have as much traction as you may down there with rocks. Meaning, I can run a 44 with these shafts, a 383 and 40s and never have an issue.

A D60 is better for rexmburns because he will encounter more rocks, and will be running hydro assist. The only thing that is weak on my 44 now is my C's and ball joints. The 60 doesn't have that issue till you are running a much bigger tire and full hydro.

Today was a good day! I finally found time to finish up my tcase install and dove it down the road for the first time in a year!!!!! I ended up sticking with the 233 case but I swapped in the 6 pinion planetary and front output shaft from the 231. It already had the wider chain but I did put the chain out of the 231 in it due to it having a bit less slack. So the plan now for the 231 is a box for rocks kit with a d300 or 241 behind it. It will likely be the d300 though just because of overall length and I can triple stick that setup. I had to do some trimming on the rear bumper and I will likely have to do more but I was able to play in the dirt a little and even just with 2wd this thing just runs crap over lol. I'm going to have to move the front axle forward and even still probably build bumps for it to keep the tires off the rock sliders at the back of the fender but I was expecting that would probably be the case. I'm going to go out tomorrow morning with my buddy with the xj and flex it out to see exactly where else I need clearance. But for now here's a pic from today showing the final rear axle placement and finally a little dirt

Well I've got more work to do!

It needs wheel bearing, pads and rotors and hubs to be ready to go oh and most of all a paint job!!! I'm going to take the time to do the King pins, u joints and axle seals before I put it in along with full high steer and probably a locker. I paid $800 for it which is about $400 less than they usually go for I this area so I'm happy with the price.

Yup it's a 79. Someone added wider perches for some stupid reason so I'll have to cut them off and add the passenger side back in the proper spot but I'm ok with that lol!

As for the paint there only thing I like about it is that it's not rust!!!

I've never seen one without rust, LOL. That thing is nearly showroom mint from a northern perspective!

Yeah the no rust part is fantastic!

Got the blazer through emissions and state safety inspection today so I can finally renew my plates and be legal again and put a few miles on it before I tear it down for the 60 swap.

I have a Dana 60 and 70 out of an excursion , I'm looking to do an sas swap with 40s what gearing should I try to go for. Everything I've found is pointing me to 4.56 but I'm still gonna be using the 4.3 in my blazer. My axles have 4.10s in them now
