New Project Jimmy
I was planning on buying this 97 Jimmy to fix my 01 Blazer, but I fixed my Blazer last night, so I bought this today for $500. It either has a rod knock or a rocker arm knock, so when it's no longer driveable I'll swap in a V8, unless I try to fix it.
DUDE! DON'T LOW IT UP!! Hear me out on this...
its clean..
its beautiful..
so why not just..
RE-SELL IT for 12-1500? WHen someone tries to argue with you about it.. just say the body alone is worth $1000. Hell you'll get your money back PLUS extra. Then take that money and do a V8 swap in your blazer
but if your hell bent on blowing it and rebuilding it, sign the title over to me
Im your long lost brother, were related in some sort of way. It can be a gift
When you do the swap, post a build thread of it

Found out today it's definitely a rod knock, it'd be pretty nice if I could get $1000 or more for it, though it does have a brand new catalytic converter. Still thinking about what I should do with it.
I would do what you first said and drive it till it dies (knowing these 4.3's that might take a few years) then throw 500$ at it and get yourself a used 4.3 and put it in. or throw a couple grand at it and get a V8.
I say find a running car for 300-500.00 for daily transportation,sell your running blazer for some good change,then buy a crate 350 and stick it in the one you got for 500. then sell that car and get your money back.
Id do it because i tend to take chances alot lol.

How about this:
Assuming it doesnt still have coolant in oil...Put Mobil1 10w50 in it. Drive as DD...If you caught it in time bearing wont spin. {Carbonized oil causes bearing seize}
Then accumulate a reman Marine Vortec Long block and stock automotive cam plus a marine intake for it..
then you can do this:
4.3L Vortec Marine Intake Conversion Helpfull Hints:
Meaning -THEN, LATER- you can easily stick a Turbo on it and get serious performance while remaining street drivable with decent economy and better reliability, and not be a 'stuck in a 350' drone.
what I would do if I were younger and had the money..{which I did when I was younger}
