Sweet! Same thing im doing over this winter. Going to use the S10 box caps and some sheet metal to close mine in. Going to make a removable hard top, but also make a soft top for it.
Great job, can wait to see it finished!

I don't know if you though of this, but maybe you take the top half of the old rear hatch and chopped it off just about half an inch below the glass and used that as your new rear window. It would take some sheet metal work to blend in the metal from the hatch to the roof and side, but would look good if you could get it to work. Then you could somehow use sheetmetal to fill in the rest of the space all the way down to the cargo area.
By the way great job so far, it makes me want to buy a 4 door modify it like this!

Hey guys. I havent been on here much. Just a little update. Im still looking for someone to make me a custom top for the back. But, however, Im really happy with cutting the top. As of right now, Im getting 30.4 MPG. I drove to Kansas City from my hometown which is 3 hours one way to get my buddy(he flew in from Afghanistan for R&R) and had to wait 2.5 hours for his flight to come in so I drove around and then back to a town that is an hour from me on half a tank. I put 265 miles on half a tank and with an 18 gal tank, that averaged 29.4. I filled up in Bethany and drove the hour back home and that was last wed and I currently have 3/4 tank of gas and 151.3 miles on it. Im gonna fill it up later to confirm that the gauge is correct.

Sounds like it worked out good! I get 12.4 mpg so 30.4 mpg would be awesome!

And I want to say that at 75-80mph, the wind was NOT that bad at all. And once you roll the windows up, there is almost NO wind at all inside. Almost. Im really super happy at doing this!
